THE POSITION
SIX8 Australia are seeking applications from experienced Leading Hands to join our team.
5 Day Work Weeks
Immediate start
Reporting to the Site Supervisor, this role will be responsible for the effective planning and monitoring daily schedule of work, regular communication with site leadership and other stakeholders, encouraging a positive safety culture, and ensuring quality, safety, and environmental systems are met.
To be successful in the role:
Previous experience in a Leading Hand Role
Knowledge of the civil construction industry
Bulk & Detailed Earthworks
Road & Pavement Construction
Stormwater & Pipe laying
Minor Concreting works
Extensive experience in concrete or civil works
Knowledge and experience in the application of Integrated Quality Management and Safety Systems
Ability to read and interpret drawings
Able to identify, analyse and solve technical problems
Capable of contributing to the development of reporting, progress claims, and safety documentation
Current Queensland Open Drivers Licence
General Construction Induction (white card)
Requirements:
Cert IV in Civil Construction and/or at least 5 years civil construction experience
HC Licence
Relevant Earthmoving Equipment Tickets

Working as part of the Senior leadership group your primary responsibility will be to lead this team of exceptional talent to deliver multiple landscape and garden design projects from concept to completion, concurrently. You will act as the client interface during delivery, ensuring alignment of creative vision with client expectation whilst driving operational and economic outcomes.
Your key responsibilities:
Project & Financial Management; Overseeing budgets, tenders & contracts all whilst maintaining a transparent and well communicated program with clients.
Scheduling; Oversee detailed planning of projects including pre-construction briefings and monitoring site progress, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery while keeping clients informed of any variations to agreed timelines or costings.
Leadership; Supervise, drive and empower all member of the team to ensure productivity, professionalism and adherence to the highest company standards. Mentor, manage and grow this dynamic team of construction delivery specialists

Your qualities & experience will include:
A background of proven success in project management, landscape construction, estimating or project delivery.
Strong technical knowledge of construction methodologies and timeline management, coupled with high attention to detail and organisational aptitude.
Strong leadership capability coupled with exceptional communication skills.
Demonstrable skills in managing complex programs and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Highly numerate and able to drive construction teams to achieve budgetary outcomes
Strategic planning and performance delivery capability.
A great attitude with the ability to be flexible and the desire to work as part of a cohesive deadline driven team.
Experience with BuilderTrend or equivalent platforms an advantage.
Tertiary qualifications preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead the commercial function across multiple construction projects, ensuring financial targets are met.
Manage head contracts and subcontracts, including negotiation, administration, and compliance.
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cost control processes.
Prepare and review claims, variations, and progress payments.
Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.
Provide commercial support to project managers and site teams.
Maintain accurate records of contractual correspondence, variations, delays, and claims.
Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project delivery.

About the role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Machine All-Rounder with expertise in Topcon GPS to join our dynamic team at ABS Civil WA Pty Ltd. This is a casual role based in Perth, WA 6000, offering the opportunity to work on a variety of construction projects and operate a range of plant and machinery.
What you'll be doing
Operate and maintain a diverse range of construction machinery and equipment, including excavators, graders, dozers, and posi tracks
Utilise Topcon GPS technology to accurately set out and control construction works
Performing bulk earthworks, trenching, and ground preparation tasks.
Perform pre-start checks, minor maintenance, and troubleshooting on machinery
Work closely with the site team to ensure project milestones are met
Comply with all safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment
Hours 44-46 Monday to Friday with Optional Saturday work
What we're looking for
Extensive experience as a plant operator in the construction industry, with a broad range of skills and expertise
Minimum 2 years of plant operator experience in the construction industry is required
Expert level proficiency in Topcon GPS systems for construction surveying , machine control and final trim is essential
Multiple plant operator tickets and qualifications are required
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to safety and a proven track record of safe work practices and quality workmanship
Australian citizenship or permanent residency is required for this position
