Job Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and commercially astute Commercial Manager to oversee the financial and contractual aspects of our construction projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring profitability, managing risk, and supporting strategic growth across our operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in construction, excellent negotiation skills, and a hands-on approach to managing contracts, budgets, and stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the commercial function across multiple construction projects, ensuring financial targets are met.

  • Manage head contracts and subcontracts, including negotiation, administration, and compliance.

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cost control processes.

  • Prepare and review claims, variations, and progress payments.

  • Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.

  • Provide commercial support to project managers and site teams.

  • Maintain accurate records of contractual correspondence, variations, delays, and claims.

  • Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project delivery.

  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and relevant legislation.

  • Support business development activities through commercial analysis and tender reviews.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Commercial Law, or Finance.

  • Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in a commercial management role within the construction industry.

  • Strong understanding of Australian construction contracts (e.g., AS4000, D&C, PPP).

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders.

  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in project management and accounting software (e.g., Jobpac, Cheops, MS Excel).
