Qualifications & experience

Tasks & responsibilities

A rural Queensland Roadhouse is seeking an experienced, hard working and "passionate for customer service" Cook to assist with operating a busy Roadhouse in Injune, 550km west of Brisbane, one hour north of Roma, at the gateway to the spectacular Carnarvon Gorge.  The role is 11 x cook shifts per fortnight plus an additional one or two hours of office duties (ordering / assisting staff / banking, etc) per day making 90 hours per fortnight.  Working Public Holidays and alternate weekends is required.

 

·     $80,000 p.a. fulltime

·     3 bedroom furnished air conditioned on site house available to rent for a subsidised weekly rate of $150 ($600 p.m).  You pay for your own WIFI, electricity and food. Imagine what you can save compared to Brisbane Rents!

We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Facilities & Grounds Manager to oversee the maintenance, presentation, and functionality of our property.
This live-in role includes free onsite accommodation with utilities bills covered (electricity, water, and gas) and is ideal for someone who enjoys practical work, variety, and independence.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring all park infrastructure, buildings, and grounds are well-maintained, safe, and operating efficiently. You’ll also coordinate external contractors, manage repairs, assist with projects, and provide overnight on-call support several nights per week.

As part of our close-knit team, you’ll occasionally assist reception and housekeeping as necessary to ensure smooth day-to-day operations across the park.

Role Responsibilities

  • Oversee all day-to-day maintenance of park infrastructure, cabins, and guest amenities

  • Conduct regular inspections and implement preventative maintenance programs

  • Manage gardening, landscaping, and grounds presentation to a consistently high standard

  • Coordinate and supervise contractors, trades, and suppliers as required

  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, asset registers, and records

  • Assist the reception team with basic administrative tasks (computer literacy can be taught)

  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests, staff, and residents

  • Ensure compliance with OH&S and safety obligations, including risk assessments and incident reporting

  • Assist the General Manager with capital works projects, upgrades, and operational improvements

  • Provide overnight on-call coverage as part of the live-in role

Role Requirements

  • Proven experience in maintenance, facilities management, or groundskeeping

  • Strong practical or trade skills: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or mechanical experience highly regarded

  • Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn property management systems

  • Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of tasks

Our Trade Waiter works closely with the Restaurant Manager and Senior Management Team to ensure seamless operations and a positive guest experience.

  • Willingness to take initiative and make decisions

  • Flexibility to work evening and weekend hours

  • Exceptional command of English
