As the communications & content coordinator for Breakthrough T1D, you'll be responsible for supporting the Senior Lead – Content and Social, as well as the Marketing and Communications team, across a range of communications deliverables. This role will have a particular focus on Community Programs tasks. Strong writing skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently.
The role offers hybrid working, with 1 or 2 days in the office. The Breakthrough T1D office is in St Leonards, a short walk away from the train and metro stations.
Key responsibilitiesAdministrative support on Community Programs activities, such as community engagement projects, online and in-person events, and resources/downloads.
Social media scheduling (with the option to create posts if you're interested).
Support social media community management across Instagram, Facebook, Facebook private groups, and LinkedIn, including responding to queries and comments, and some outreach.

You’ll help manage content calendars, run influencer outreach, craft campaign copy, publish and schedule posts, respond to community engagement, assist with email marketing, and offer creative input on strategy and direction.
This role requires excellent time management, task prioritisation, and communication skills. You’ll often be wearing multiple hats - from community manager to content strategist to email producer - and we’re looking for someone who can set their own pace, carve out structure, and stay accountable without needing micromanagement.
You’ll work across multiple projects at once and be trusted to build your own workflows, manage your time, and keep momentum even when things shift or evolve quickly. Our team brings a mix of working styles, so clear communication, self-direction, and follow-through are essential.
Influencer & Partner Coordination
Research and manage outreach to influencers, venues, and cultural partners
Coordinate briefs, approvals, and deliverables
Track campaign results and maintain a CRM-style database
Email & Content Marketing
Draft and schedule email campaigns and ad/social copy
Build and manage content assets across channels
Help maintain and grow audience lists
Community & Social Media
Respond to comments, DMs, and community feedback
Moderate and manage engagement across platforms
Source and repurpose UGC and audience stories
Video & Content Production
Assist with short-form video content
Capture, edit, and repurpose video clips for campaigns
Support visual content planning with the creative team
Creative Input & Strategy
Contribute to weekly marketing meetings and brainstorms
Stay across platform trends and emerging tools
Help align messaging, tone, and campaign strategy
Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (Latin American Spanish preferred) - professional working proficiency required for client communication and content creation
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in digital marketing, social media management, or content creation
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or equivalent experience in digital marketing
Experience with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok,) and familiarity with associated tools (Business Manager, Brevo, or similar)
Strong writing and communication skills across platforms
Strong organisational and time management skills - you’ll need to structure your own weekly schedule and allocate hours across multiple work streams
Comfortable working collaboratively in a remote team environment where communication may come through email, Slack and Google Drive
Experience with social media, influencers, content creation, or digital marketing
Able to take initiative and manage your workload with minimal supervision
Ability to learn quickly, take feedback, and adapt to shifting priorities
Experience with email marketing platforms + CRM
Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools
Photography, video editing, or content creation experience
Interest in theatre, immersive experiences, or arts marketing
AUD $32.50/hour, casual/freelance (wiggle room for more experienced candidates)
Approx 25 hours/week to start
Remote-first, may have occasional in-person work (travel costs covered if needed)
Naarm (Melbourne) preferred but we will consider candidates globally
