The technician uses their mechanical and technical skills to perform repair and service work on vehicles. They need to be continually updating their knowledge and have a high priority in regards to customer satisfaction.

Perform mechanical service and repair work assigned and satisfies customers by performing work to a high level of quality in a safe and efficient manner.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Carry out repairs and/or maintenance as per the repair order to the manufacturers and the Dealership requirements and report directly to the Foreman/Team Leader whenever this cannot be done
  • Plan each job for maximum efficiency. Order parts where necessary following company’s procedures for ordering
  • Maintain a sound knowledge of all Manufacturers and Dealership products, services and Technical Bulletins
  • Request assistance from Foreman when diagnosis of problem jobs is required.
  • Follow the correct procedures when carrying out warranty work including tagging and correct storage of warranty parts
  • Be responsible for the care and use of all workshop tools and equipment and that they are returned to their correct place on completion of task, report any damage or breakages to Controller/Foreman
  • Ensure all jobs are completed within standard repair times
  • Return vehicle in a clean state after repairs
  • Ensure you clock on and off each job using the Tune system
  • Ensure all RO stories are completed legibly & correctly with all details regarding work carried out and/or parts ordered
  • If additional work is discovered, notify the relevant person for authorisation
  • Ensure all Company and any other relevant rules and regulations are observed, this includes smoking and traffic laws and the use of the trade plate when required
  • Maintain familiarity with manufacturer bulletins and manuals
  • Suggest any improvements, training or tools required
  • Ensure an up-to-date tool kit relevant to your position is kept
  • Carry out overtime when required/requested
  • Ensure any damage to company equipment or customer’s vehicles is reported to the Service Mgr. as soon as possible
  • Dispose of any wastes in the correct fashion in line with Environmental/OH&S policy and legislation
  • Maintain air conditioning records including maintenance documents, equipment records and purchasing records for ARC audit requirements • Maintain and secure all A/C station equipment
  • Report all maintenance requirements to the workshop supervisor 
  • Customer Satisfaction
  • Provide a high level of customer service through accurate and timely repairs and service
  • Ensure all customers are treated in accordance with Dealership policy 
  • Ensure all vehicles serviced/repaired by you have a seat cover, floor mat & guard covers used during service/repair and that all handprints grease marks etc. are removed on completion of job, and the vehicle is in an acceptable condition
  • Customer’s vehicles are shown with care in their handling
  • Report all customer complaints (internal & external) and conditions that are adverse to the operational efficiency of the Department or achievement of quality
