Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Salary: $80,000 – $100,000 + Super
About the RoleWe are seeking a skilled Fitter / Machine Operator to join our team and operate advanced scrap metal recycling machinery. You’ll be responsible for running and troubleshooting five precision size reduction machines that process and sort metals for recycling.
Key Responsibilities- Operate precision size reduction lines, including feed, separation, and collection systems.
- Monitor machine performance, troubleshoot operational issues, and escalate faults when required.
- Conduct pre-start checks, inspections, and minor preventative maintenance.
- Follow SOPs, lock-out/tag-out systems, and site safety policies at all times.
- Record production data, downtime, and incidents accurately.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and maintenance teams to optimise plant utilisation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for process optimisation and safety.
- Perform other tasks as directed to support site operations.
About You- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with heavy industrial equipment.
- Proven ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and process discipline.
- Problem-solving skills to diagnose and respond to mechanical or process issues.
- Team player with excellent communication skills.
- Adaptable and resilient under changing operational demands.
Requirements- Previous experience operating industrial recycling, mining, manufacturing, or heavy plant equipment.
- Experience with precision size reduction systems (Stokkermill, Panizzolo, or similar) highly desirable.
- Forklift licence (LF) required; additional high-risk licences (EWP, dogging) advantageous.
- Trade/technical training in mechanical, process, or manufacturing operations preferred.
- Basic IT literacy for production monitoring and data entry.
- Physically fit: frequent standing, walking, manual handling (up to 20kg independently).
