About the role
Join the Otto & Partners' team as an SMSF Accountant based in Noosa.
The role will suit either an experienced SMSF Accountant or alternatively an experienced Accountant or Bookkeeper interested in building a career in SMSF accounting.
Training will be provided as required.
The role is based in Noosa and requires on site attendance.
What you'll be doing
Preparing SMSF financial statements, tax returns and other compliance documents.
Managing client relationships and acting as the client contact for SMSFs.

Minimum 2 to 3 years experience in an accounting role.

Expression of Interest - Audit and Risk Committee Independent Member
East Gippsland Shire Council is seeking Expressions of Interest for the position of Independent Member of its Audit and Risk Committee.
The Audit and Risk Committee is an advisory body to Council, providing independent oversight and advice on key areas including financial management, corporate governance, internal controls, risk management, compliance, and internal and external audit processes.
Council is looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced individual for a term of up to three (3) years, commencing in early 2026. To ensure continuity of knowledge and expertise, Committee members are appointed on staggered terms ranging from one to three years.
The Committee comprises three independent external members, who collectively bring a diverse mix of professional skills and experience relevant to Council operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, integrity, and a strong understanding of governance and risk in a public sector context.
The Committee meets at least five times per year, with meetings generally held online, offering flexibility and ease of participation.
Note: Council has recently made some changes to the Committee’s membership composition and structure. These changes have not yet been reflected in the Committee’s Charter.
Remuneration
Remuneration for Independent Members of the Committee is $850 per meeting (indexed annually), inclusive of time spent on preparation for the meeting.

Relevant professional qualifications and/or substantial experience in one or more of the following areas:
Financial management
Risk management
Corporate governance and regulatory compliance
Internal audit planning and oversight
Understanding of, or experience in, the local government sector
Knowledge of corporate governance principles and their application in organisational settings
Previous experience serving on similar committees in local government or the broader public sector
Council will also consider any specialist expertise that contributes to a well-rounded and skilled committee.

THE ROLE
Working in the bookkeeping team within an accounting firm you will work across multiple clients in varying industries
End to end Bookkeeping for a large number of clients
Monthly and quarterly Management reporting including Cashflow and Budget reporting
Financial reporting and forecasting
Banking, payroll, GST lodgments, general ledger reconciliations, PAYG reporting, invoicing, AP/AR and other typical bookkeeping duties.
Client contact from the office
Assisting accountants & processing client records.
THE REQUIREMENTS
Experienced working with multiple clients in an accounting firm OR or several business entities eg: franchise group or property development group.
Knowledge of MYOB and XERO
A personable and professional demeanor with ability to think outside the box
Ability to think commercially and help clients grow their business
Excellent attention to detail & good organisational/prioritisation skills

The Opportunity:
This is a hands-on, senior finance role where you’ll lead the finance function and provide critical commercial support across the group. Reporting to the company owners directly, you’ll have visibility and control over operational and development functions, ensuring strong financial governance while driving performance insights and operational change that support strategic decision-making and continued company growth.
You’ll be responsible for financial reporting, statutory compliance, team leadership and commercial analysis — with the scope to make the role your own in a dynamic environment.
Lead, mentor and shape your own Accounts Payable and Receivable team, ensuring efficient daily operations and high standards.
Take ownership of cashflow management and forecasting for the company and group, including daily tracking and forward working capital forecasts.
Develop and oversee annual budgets, prepare quarterly forecasts, and deliver monthly overhead reviews and variance analysis.
Manage general ledger postings, including month-end journals and reconciliations.
Ensure all compliance obligations are met, including BAS, FBT, payroll tax, superannuation and other industry reporting.
Work closely with the groups external accountant ensuring any and all required adjustment journal are actioned so that group book work is compliant, consistent and correct
Produce accurate and timely monthly financial statements, including Work in Progress (WIP) calculations and project performance reports.
Oversee Balance Sheet and P&L reconciliations and ensure the integrity of financial data.
Manage the Payroll function end-to-end.
Take a lead role in external audits as required to secure new projects etc. as well as ensuring required documentation for EOFY reporting and MFR reporting is available when required
Partner with the CFO on strategic projects and commercial initiatives, contributing financial insight to support growth.
About You
You’re a finance professional with strong technical capability, commercial acumen and a collaborative mindset. You thrive in a casual yet fast-paced environments, enjoy leading teams, and can comfortably shift between detail work and strategic input.
What We’re Looking For:
CA or CPA qualified (or in the final stages of completion).
Minimum 5 years’ similar experience.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with a natural ability to build rapport and support team goals.
Confidence in adopting and utilising new accounting systems (Jobpac and Xero both utilised) as well as strong excel skills
A friendly, approachable style combined with a commitment to improving governance and internal controls.
Experience in the construction sector is highly regarded but not essential.
