The General Practice Liaison Unit at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse to join their team on a temporary basis.

Your opportunity

The Clinical Nurse (CN) provides nursing services within the health service settings; and is responsible for a portfolio with a focus on clinical care/leadership, management, education and/or research.  The activities are predominantly clinical in nature, but also provide support to a Nurse Grade 7 or above in management activities. The CN provides advanced level clinical skills to ensure patient-focused evidence-based nursing care, plans and coordinates the clinical management of patient/client care and provides leadership and support to other nursing staff.

The General Practice Liaison Unit (GPLU) sits within the Medical Services at the Mackay Base Hospital. The GPLU works across the Mackay Hospital and Health Service to improve the integration between the hospital and primary health care setting, ensuring care is integrated across the entire patient journey.

About the Role

Under guidance of Council's Biosecurity Coordinator, undertake biosecurity operations across Council-managed and private lands, focusing on priority weed inspections and control; and undertake spray operations for a range of Council-managed land. Activities include:

  • Undertaking property inspections on private and public property for the purpose of identifying and regulating weeds scheduled in accordance with the Biosecurity Act 2015.
  • Identifying, recording, mapping, and reporting on the presence of scheduled and other weeds on properties.
  • Undertake spraying operations for the management of parks, sportsgrounds, roadsides and other Council-managed land to provide weed and pest control, and for soil and turf management.
  • Provide operational oversight and logistical coordination for programs of weed inspections, programs of weed control, and spray operations.
  • Advising the Biosecurity Coordinator on the need to issue Biosecurity Directions as per the requirements of the Act.

About You

To be successful in the position, you will have:

  • Certificate III in Horticulture, Agriculture or Conservation and Land Management (or equivalent).
  • Current AQF3 Chemical accreditation training for handling and use.
  • Class C Driver's Licence.
  • Experience operating vehicles off-road.
  • Knowledge of the Biosecurity Act 2015 and Biosecurity Regulation 2017.
  • Ability to identify weeds growing in the Shoalhaven.
  • Ability to provide support by mentoring and advising other team members.
  • Ability to manage individual projects.

About the role

Your opportunity: 

  • The Advanced Social Worker - Domestic & Family Violence Lead position will embed DFV expertise within Wide Bay Mental Health & Specialised Services (WBMHSS), support continuous improvement, lead system and practice change, and build sector capacity and capability to identify, assess, and respond to family violence.
  • Collaborate with the WBMHSS Executive Team to develop, implement and evaluate service strategic plans and quality improvement activities inclusive of domestic and family violence to ensure quality service delivery and outcomes.
  • Encourage integration across the WBMHSS and the domestic and family violence (DFV) sector to provide an enhanced response to domestic and family violence. In doing so, the role will promote the benefits of a shared understanding and collaborative responses to domestic and family violence in reducing risk and increasing safety for victim-survivors of DFV. This will include WBMHSS representation on, and active engagement in high risk DFV meetings and other multi-agency risk management models and information sharing at the local level.

The Role

As a cleaner, you will be responsible for internal cleaning duties, including the maintenance of carpets and hard floor surfaces, toilet cleaning, furniture and fittings, window cleaning, dusting, rubbish removal, and other items of general cleaning. In addition, you will also carry out external cleaning duties, including the cleaning of verandas and covered areas, rubbish removal, cleaning of drinking troughs, window cleaning, removal of cobwebs and other general cleaning duties. During vacation times, you will also undertake the stripping and sealing of vinyl floors, window cleaning, shampooing of carpets, pressure cleaning of verandas and undercover areas.

Suitable applicants should have good attention to detail and will be able to work well both individually and as part of a team to ensure a clean and safe school environment. Additionally, we highly value applicants who are organised, honest, reliable, and punctual and have excellent knowledge of cleaning equipment and safe cleaning procedures, methods, and practices.
