Position Overview
The Junior Accountant will provide critical support to the Finance team by managing day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and contributing to process improvements. This role requires a detail-oriented and proactive individual who can work collaboratively and support the Finance Manager in achieving organisational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day accounting transactions with accuracy and efficiency.
Verify and process invoices, reconcile supplier statements, and prepare payment runs.
Maintain up-to-date supplier and contractor records while supporting compliance requirements.
Respond to creditor and supplier enquiries, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies.
Assist with month-end close activities, including balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries.
Support year-end accounts preparation and group reporting requirements.
Collaborate with the Finance Manager on budgets, financial records, and statements.
Contribute to system and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency.
Requirements
Minimum 1 year of experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar role.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
Team-oriented mindset, willingness to learn, and a proactive, positive attitude.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively.
Process and deadline-driven approach with high attention to detail.

You demonstrate strong Excel skills, a solid understanding of cost drivers, and the ability to build productive stakeholder relationships. A curious mindset, critical thinking capability, and strong problem-solving skills will ensure success in this role.

About the Role
This is a customer-focused role dedicated to delivering exceptional service and first-line support across Payroll, Finance, HR, Procurement, and Fleet functions. Based in Parramatta CBD, the position is offered as a 12-month contract with a hybrid working model—three days in the office and two days from home following an initial settling-in period.
You will be a key point of contact for Uniting’s staff and external vendors, responding to enquiries and providing Tier 1 support across Uniting’s 1300 service lines.
