About the opportunity
Reporting to the Compliance Manager, your focus will be to facilitate and administratively support vendor compliance across the NEX Building Group portfolio. More specifically, your responsibilities will include:

  • This is a Monday-Friday position on a 6 month contract
  • Manage the onboarding admin and process for subcontractors to ensure compliance
  • Assist our new and existing vendors to ensure they have all the documents required for compliance and are up to date
  • Review all vendor documentation to ensure it meets NEX Group internal system requirements
  • Maintenance of vendor documentation and vendor database systems
  • Maintenance of WHS business compliance records and databases
  • Ability to review SWMS and provide guidance on safe work procedures
  • Provide accurate and timely administrative support to the WHS team as required
  • Collaborate cross functionally to implement improvements to the vendor experience and issue resolution process

About you

Hydromedial (HCG) provide services in building diagnostics, reporting, design & specification and project management. We cover residential, commercial and heritage sectors.

Hydromedial is a digital based business which allow our team members to operate together in a live environment by either ‘working from home’ or in our office in the heart of Crow’s Nest, or from site, and also interact with our clients seamlessly and in real time. Our approach to general reporting through to planning and executing a project is forward thinking, being risk adverse and ensuring the ‘The project comes first’.  We operate and are accredited under ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018. 

What We Are Looking For Someone that Fits the Following:

  1. You must have a minimum of five (2) years’ experience in this type of role and over ten (10) years minimum industry experience in residential high rise and low-rise construction. 

  2. You must be experienced in carrying out general building, water related and defect inspections, followed by drafting and administering the relevant reports in a standard or litigation-based format. 

  3. You must be a flexible contractor, as the consistency of work is deemed by your performance. Work will be on an ADHOC basis, but a permanent contractor opportunity is available for the right person.

  4. The contractor role requires experience on class 2 buildings.

  5. The role would suit a knowledgeable builder or site manager/supervisor that has built (on site), or structural engineer that has extensive site experience in this field. Your ability to deconstruct and problem solve with engineering disciplines is a large part of the role. 

  6. The role requires you to have an actual knowledge of applying waterproofing, structural and drainage related Australian Standards, the Building Code of Australia (BCA, National Construction Code (NCC), and the Design and Building Practitioner Act to inspections, reports, and design.

  7. Strong experience in remedial based building, reporting and design, including water related defects, is a must.

  8. You must have intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and Adobe PDF applications. You are solely responsible for finalising your documentation.

  9. You must have your own current ABN and registered business name as a Sole Trader or company PTY LTD, professional indemnity, public liability, and workers comp insurance (if applicable).

  10. You must have your own laptop, smart phone, and tablet with back up batteries available for site inspections.

  11. You must have your own vehicle and current driver’s licence.

  12. You must have a builder’s licence, carpentry & joinery trade certificate, and or an engineering or architectural degree and NSW based white card or general construction induction card. 

  13. You must be open to learning basic digital platforms on the PC and mobile phone applications.

  14. You must have three Australian Industry based (3) referees with current phone numbers, emails that have been involved in the experience stated in your CV and be willing for us to contact them, as required.

  15. You must be willing to travel out of Sydney city metro and interstate in some cases.

  16. You must have experience or willingness to operate in ‘Expert Witness’ engagements. 

  17. You must be willing to operate in a structured business, with set platforms and procedures to carry out your role.

  18. We are looking for someone that collaborates and promotes consistency and ideas with our team and external stakeholders.

The Role Responsibilities Are:

  1. Liaison with facility/building representatives on defective and or design issues.

  2. Liaison with facility/building representatives & trade to carry our non-invasive and invasive site inspections, analysis and subsequent report writing.

  3. Carrying out quality control and critical site inspections on projects and reporting outcomes as arranged by project managers.

  4. Assist project managers in troubleshooting design and installation or project requirements. 

  5. Documenting detailed diagnostic reports to meet Building Code of Australian & Australian Standards, HBA, NCC and GTST requirements in line with project specific needs.

  6. Preparation of scope of work and specifications

  7. Tender analysis.

  8. Reviewing and qualifying drafted reports and designs carried out by others.

  9. Liaison with building contractors on compliance of installation and corrective actions.

  10. Liaison with the client, agents, strata managers and homeowners on logistics, design and contractor issues.

  11. Liaison with regulatory agencies regarding requirements for approvals, and authorities relating to design and compliance.

  12. Providing expert witness services at conclaves and legal proceedings.

  13. Quantity estimating 

  14. Assessing and recommending materials and methods to the required project team members, as required.

  15. Authorising designs by others, fit for purpose to meet Australian Standard requirements and in line with project specific needs.

  16. Following corporate quality management system procedures.
