About the Role
We’re seeking a seasoned Principal Structural Integrity Engineer to join our Asset Management team, where you’ll play a key role in shaping both strategic and operational leadership for civil and structural infrastructure across Alcoa’s portfolio of 22 major facilities in 4 regions globally.
In this pivotal role, you will lead the development, deployment, and oversight of civil structural integrity frameworks, processes, and standards. Leveraging your technical expertise, you’ll support regional and site-level teams in managing their Civil Structural Infrastructure (CSI) functions and navigating complex challenges by:
Providing leadership to locations in developing management strategies that align with global civil structural integrity frameworks and standards.
Providing guidance to locations and regions in managing structural integrity risks mitigation and critical defects remediation strategies.
Partnering with regional teams to co-develop and implement CSI management plans, ensuring effective governance and performance monitoring.
Maintaining high standards of quality and compliance across global CSI systems and lead the design and execution of asset integrity assessments.
Leading and supporting investigations into major CSI asset failures, while driving the adoption of global best practices into standardised processes.
Developing and sustaining CSI training programs and frameworks, and manage all condition metrics, tools, data sources, and reporting views.

What you can bring to the role
Experience working within a functional engineering leadership role (ideally across multiple regions, languages and cultures) considered highly desirable.
Tertiary qualifications in Civil & Structural Engineering, with chartership through Engineers Australia considered highly desirable.
Brings a strong foundation in asset integrity and civil structural engineering, with deep understanding of CSI management systems, standards, and processes.
Experienced in creating and deploying site-level CSI strategies, frameworks, and improvement roadmaps aligned with organisational goals.
Proficient in civil structural calculations and analysis, with hands-on experience using technical software such as SPACEGASS and Strand 7 (or other equivalent FEA software packages).
Skilled in conducting structural assessments, developing engineering solutions and scopes of work, presenting findings to leadership, and validating external consultant outputs.
Adept at engaging and influencing site and regional stakeholders, with strong communication, consulting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
Provide mentoring to location Engineers for development of a solid first-principal engineering foundation.

The CSI-IPT CCA forms a collaborative enterprise organisation to execute scopes of work across Hobart Class Destroyer (SEA4000 Phase 6 and other related Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) upgrades) and the Hunter Class Frigates (HCFs - SEA5000 Phase 1). This will see independently executed programs such as SEA4000 Phase 6 and SEA5000 Phase 1 brought under one umbrella enterprise organisation, the CSI-IPT.
The CSI-IPT will be built up with personnel from three industry participants and the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA) to form a collaborative team working across multiple programs to leverage synergies between platforms.
The roleThe CSI-IPT Combat Systems Senior AI Technician will operate as part of the broader engineering team within the DDG Combat Systems Test Team. They will work in a collaborative partnership with both the customer (CoA) and internally with DDG engineering teams to ensure implementation and verification of the DDG Combat System.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, nightshift environment and enjoys hands-on project delivery.
Maintain QA records and support inspections in line with project and client requirements.
Assist with NCR management and close-out.
Coordinate tack coat management and verify field compliance with AfPA and CASA MOS 139 requirements.
Support survey activities including coring, stratification, and random test placement.
Prepare and maintain ITPs, manage hold/witness points, and coordinate asphalt testing.
Validate survey profiles and levels for runway, taxiway, and apron works.
Interface with subcontractors to ensure activities meet specification and schedule.
Provide inputs for QA status reporting, environmental data, and daily progress tracking.
Support dayworks, claims, and variations.
Check supply mid-swing and end-of-swing to confirm raw materials are sufficient.
