Opportunities for experienced Mental Health practitioners with a history of providing services to children and young people with serious emotional and behavioural difficulties.

As a Senior Specialist Mental Health Worker (P3) you are responsible for the delivery of a high-quality mental health service to children with serious emotional and behavioural difficulties, including mental health assessment and evidence-based therapeutic interventions.

Your key duties include managing a caseload of children and young people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties, comprehensive mental health assessments, in addition to a strong focus on working with families and therapeutic intervention. You will participate in the development of contemporary models of care, including new service models in response to NT Health and National mental health reforms, contribute to research and undertake quality evaluation at program or professional network level.

Ideally, you will be an accomplished MH Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker or Psychologist with registration to practice with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or be eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)Demonstrated recent clinical experience in mental health assessment, treatment and rehabilitation methods appropriate for children and young people is essential.

About the Role
The City is seeking a new or experienced Pool Supervisor to join the aquatics team at Wanneroo Aquamotion. The position is accountable for ensuring compliance of the aquatic facilities in line with the Aquatic Code of Practice and associated legislations and leading and supervising a team of Lifeguards to maintain a safe aquatic environment. The successful appointee will be responsible for:

  • Providing leadership, guidance, and supervision to staff,

Capricornia Offender Health Service (COHS) is responsible for the delivery of health service to prisoners in the Capricornia Correctional Centre (CCC), Capricornia Correctional Farm (CCF) and prisoner workcamps.  COHS provides a health service to a fluctuating population of approximately 1300 male prisoners within CCC and CCF. About the role:

About you:
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • A relevant postgraduate diploma or Master's degree is an expectation of this position. Where the successful applicant does not currently hold this qualification, commitment to completion within an agreed timeframe is expected and will form part of the performance and development plan.

The Team

Student Wellbeing and Inclusion Programs and Services (SWIPS)is part of Inclusion and Engagement Services, delivering tailored support to enhance inclusion, engagement and access to learning for children, students and communities across the Territory.

The Professional Practice and Intake team provides professional leadership and promotes a culture of practice excellence for multidisciplinary teams supporting schools in regional networks to implement best practice wellbeing and inclusion approaches and improve learning outcomes for students with diverse needs. This team is responsible for the management of approaches, programs, resources and training available to schools and supporting service request/referral intake processes through assessment and triage functions. 

The Role

As a Professional Practice Leader, you will provide professional leadership and practice expertise to psychologists, behaviour advisors, occupational therapist, social workers and speech pathologists who are part of a multi-disciplinary team who support schools to improve wellbeing and inclusion through whole school and targeted approaches. Practice Leaders drive a culture of practice excellence across multidisciplinary teams and may carry a small caseload when required.

You will be working under corporate based conditions with flexibility for travel to remote schools. Travelling to remote schools may require travel by four-wheel drive vehicle on unsealed roads or light aircraft and include overnight stays in remote communities of up to four days, training will be provided by the Department of Education and Training.  

About You

To be successful you will have: 

  • A degree in social work, psychology, occupational therapy or speech pathology, and registration with relevant professional association or ability to obtain (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), Speech Pathology Australia (SPA), Northern Territory Teacher Registration Board, depending on relevant profession. 

  • Experience delivering preventative, targeted and individual practices, including complex case management.

  • Proven capacity to review complex case decisions, analyse information, problem solve and develop evidence-based recommendations.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and application of service provision in practitioner roles, including theoretical frameworks, practice standards, ethical issues and quality assurance processes.

  • Ability to work independently under limited direction, with the capacity to coach and mentor practitioners using contemporary, evidence-based best practice.

  • A current Working with Children Notice (Ochre Card) from SAFE NT or ability to obtain.
