Values-driven organisation with great benefits

About the Opportunity
Our client is a household name and national retailer with an aggressive national growth strategy. While known for their customer-facing operations, behind the scenes they run one of the country's most sophisticated property development programs, delivering a large number of new builds and major refurbishments annually.

This is a rare opportunity to join their National Development Group as a Construction Project Manager, taking full ownership of high-value commercial projects from concept to completion. Based in Perth, you'll be managing new retail facilities and major reinvestment projects across WA, with occasional interstate travel.

Why This Role Stands Out
Scale & Pace: Manage multiple projects simultaneously with fast-track delivery timeframes. You'll achieve more project completions in 2 years here than most PM roles offer in 5.
Autonomy with Support: Take genuine ownership of your projects while being mentored by a highly experienced Senior Project Manager who's invested in your development.
Blue-Chip Experience: Work with Australia's leading consultants, contractors, and suppliers. Build relationships that will serve your entire career.
Clear Progression: This organisation promotes from within. Many senior leaders started in similar roles—your career trajectory is limited only by your ambition.
National Platform: Exposure to projects across Australia, working within a structured, process-driven environment with best-practice systems and substantial resources.
Stability Meets Growth: The security of a major national brand combined with the dynamism of an expanding development pipeline.

The Role
You'll manage the end-to-end delivery of new builds and refurbishment projects including:
  • Full project lifecycle management from feasibility through to handover
  • Contract administration (Australian Standard Form contracts, SOPA legislation)
  • Budget management, cost control, and commercial negotiation
  • Tender management and contractor/consultant procurement
  • Stakeholder liaison across Real Estate, Operations, Business Partners, and external parties
  • Ensuring compliance with NCC/BCA, WHS legislation, and brand standards
  • Post-completion activities including defect management and project evaluation
This is a hands-on role requiring site presence, commercial acumen, and strong technical capability.

What You'll Bring

Essential:
  • Tertiary qualification in Architecture, Building, Construction, Engineering, or related discipline
  • 3-4 years' construction project management experience (commercial or retail advantageous, would consider two years for top performers)
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects end-to-end
  • Strong understanding of NCC/BCA, building legislation, WHS requirements
  • Contract administration experience (preferably Australian Standard Forms)
  • Excellent communication skills—you'll interact with everyone from executives to contractors
  • Self-motivated, organised, and able to work autonomously
  • WA driver's license and willingness to travel regionally as required
Desirable:
  • Experience in retail, hospitality, or fast-paced commercial environments
  • Exposure to fast-track construction programs
  • Understanding of SOPA legislation and payment claim processes
What We're Really Looking For
Beyond the technical requirements, we're seeking someone who is:
  • Coachable: Eager to learn from experienced leaders and committed to professional development
  • Proactive: Takes initiative and drives outcomes without constant direction
  • Relationship-focused: Builds strong collaborative partnerships with all stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented: Maintains high standards in documentation and administration
  • Resilient: Thrives in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
  • Solutions-focused: Approaches challenges with practical problem-solving
The Package
  • Base salary up to $155,000 + superannuation + performance bonus
  • Genuine career development and progression opportunities
  • Comprehensive training and professional development support
  • Work with a values-driven organisation that prioritises people and community
  • Be part of a high-performing, collaborative team
  • Access to national development programs and learning initiatives
