Join Our Dynamic Therapy Team at Ryde
Based in our Ryde site, this is a fantastic opportunity to work with an experienced, multidisciplinary team of 11, including highly dedicated and passionate OT, PT, SP and EP therapists. We have a strong, client focused and fun team culture and work collaboratively to support our clients' goals.

As a well-established therapy centre the team are generally on site for client appointments, although you may have some offsite appointments if clinically required. We have large Therapy rooms, a well-equipped plaster/casting room, and a large outdoor therapy space with play equipment. The clinic also has a huge range of assessment and intervention resources as well as incredible new equipment and technology, such as:

We service clients from across the lifespan from infancy to adulthood - ages 0-65 with CP and other like physical disabilities but also support a wide range of other disabilities including intellectual, genetic, as well as neurodiverse clients. We also operate an early intervention clinic for infants 0-2 years old and provide therapy services through the ages of school to adults. You could also be involved in school holiday therapy intensive groups or our monthly on site equipment clinics depending on your experience level and career goals.

What We're Looking For:

  • Must be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and hold the relevant occupational therapy accreditation in NSW.
  • Demonstrated experience working with neurological/physical disabilities (such as CP) and assistive technology/equipment prescription.
  • Familiarity with funding frameworks (e.g., the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) in Australia) and assistive technology (AT) guidelines.
  • Knowledge of how CP affects movement, posture, fine motor skills, daily living tasks, and how equipment can assist (seating, standing frames, mobility aids, communication devices).
  • Ability to perform comprehensive assessment: physical (strength, coordination), cognitive/perceptual, environmental (home, school, community), functional goals.
  • Experience prescribing/customising specialised equipment for CP: For example, custom moulded seating systems, specialised wheelchairs, adaptive supports.
  • Ability to provide detailed documentation: assessment reports, rationale for equipment, options, cost/benefit, trial plan, review schedule.

  • Designing and delivering functional therapy programs

  • Providing therapy in clinic, homes, schools, community settings and via telehealth

  • Working closely with families, educators and team members to get the best outcomes

  • Writing clinical notes within 24 hours and submitting reports within one week of the final session in a block

  • Supporting clients to build confidence, independence and participation in everyday life

About the Role:
The Palliative Care Service at Canberra Health Services is a consultation liaison service operating during business hours and services patients with palliative needs throughout the wider hospital campus. The palliative care psychosocial liaison is a critical reference point for patients and families with psychosocial needs relating to their overall diagnosis, treatment or adjusting to a new palliative care diagnosis.

The role also provides support and education for staff across diverse professional backgrounds and as such is a highly experienced professional.

Working closely with other disciplines in all wards in Canberra Hospital, the role provides support for patients and their families or carers along with direct care of complex patients. Services include facilitation of access to resources, responding to crisis and leadership in palliative care conversations.

This position can be filled with either a Social Worker or a Psychologist.

Details of appointment:

Permanent part time, day worker position, working 40 hours per fortnight, commencing 18 January 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

  • To provide advanced and complex care to patients of MNCCI reflecting current standards of nursing practices and Mid North Coast Local Health District policies and procedures. 
  • To deliver specialist nursing care and education to men diagnosed with prostate cancer.
  • Act as a key point of contact, offering personalised support and coordinating multidisciplinary care
  • Provide evidence-based information on treatment options, side effects and survivorship
