About the Role:

We are currently seeking a skilled and safety-focused HV Installation & Commissioning Technician to join our high voltage electrical team. This role involves hands-on delivery of HV installations, testing, and commissioning on new and existing electrical infrastructure across a variety of client sites.

You'll work closely with project teams, engineers, and clients to ensure systems are installed, tested, and energised safely, efficiently, and in accordance with relevant standards and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform installation, termination, and connection of HV cables, switchgear, transformers, and associated infrastructure.

  • Execute commissioning and testing of HV equipment including protection relays, CTs/VTs, HV switchboards, and SCADA interfaces.

  • Conduct pre-commissioning and functional testing, insulation resistance testing, hipot testing, primary and secondary injection, and fault-finding.

  • Interpret schematics, single line diagrams, and technical documentation to ensure correct installation and commissioning procedures.

  • Work closely with engineers and supervisors to complete energisation procedures safely.

  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with relevant standards, manufacturer instructions, and project specifications.

  • Maintain accurate commissioning records, test sheets, and handover documentation.

  • Uphold and enforce high standards of WHS, including permit systems, JHAs, and electrical safety protocols.

  • Assist with troubleshooting and rectification of electrical faults during and after commissioning.

Skills & Experience Required:
  • Qualified Electrician with valid electrical license (NSW or relevant state).

  • Proven experience in HV installation and commissioning (11kV–132kV preferred).

  • Minimum 5+ years of HV installation and commissioning experience required.

  • Familiar with AS/NZS 3000, AS 2067, and HV commissioning standards.

  • Experience with testing equipment (e.g., Omicron, Megger, Doble, or similar).

  • Current CPR/LVR, HV Switching, and Construction White Card.

  • Strong understanding of switching procedures, isolation protocols, and test/energisation processes.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to safety and compliance.

  • Australian work rights are required for this position.

Highly Desirable:
  • Authorised HV Switching Ticket.

  • Experience on utility, industrial, or renewable energy HV systems.

  • Familiarity with commissioning documentation and quality assurance processes.

  • EWP, Confined Space, and/or Working at Heights tickets.
