Workfast is seeking a CNC Machinist for our client based in Bassendean, WA.
This role forms part of a specialised locomotive wheelset overhaul team, machining high-precision components and supporting mechanical fitting activities across a safety-critical environment. It's an excellent opportunity for a reliable machinist looking for stable, ongoing work within a well-established engineering facility.

What You Get
- $57.37 per hour + penalties
- Monday to Friday roster (rotating days & afternoons)
Day Shift: Monday - Friday: 6:00am - 2:30pm
Afternoon Shift: Monday - Thursday: 1:30pm - 10:30pm, Friday: 1:30pm - 7:30pm - Work with cutting-edge CNC machinery in a high-standards engineering environment
- Long-term role with training and development for the right candidate

- Experienced CNC Operator with machining and programming capability
- Ability to set up and operate CNC lathe machines
- Experience with measuring instruments and precision tolerances
- Relevant trade qualification or significant equivalent experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail with a strong safety focus
- Experience in the rail industry desirable (training provided for suitable applicants)
- Kinwa CNC lathe experience preferred but not essential
- Ability to pass full pre-employment medical & das
- Machining wheels, axles, and locomotive components on CNC lathe equipment
- Performing component measurement, inspection, and quality checks
- Supporting mechanical fitting and assembly work on wheelsets and related components
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- Determining correct setup, tooling, and machining methods
- Maintaining safe working practices and contributing to a high-quality workshop environment
