Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Chef.
Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience.
Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food presentation, and kitchen

Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including HACCP.

A not-for-profit organisation, Bendigo Heritage is responsible for the management of Bendigo’s leading heritage tourist attractions: Central Deborah Gold Mine, Bendigo Tramways and the Bendigo Joss House Temple. In addition to tourist operations, Bendigo Heritage also runs a successful manufacturing arm at the Bendigo Tramways Workshop, undertaking tram restoration and repurposing projects for a range of clients.
We are currently seeking enthusiastic and engaging individuals to join our team as Tour Guides across Bendigo Heritage sites, including Central Deborah Gold Mine. This roles is integral to delivering positive and memorable experiences for all visitors.
To be successful you must have:
· Ensure customer service is focused on providing an enjoyable and memorable experience.
· Be able to competently conduct all tours at Central Deborah Gold Mine with the ability to adapt content to diverse audiences
· Maintain a professional, accurate and informative presentation for each mine tour.
· Develop and demonstrate extensive knowledge of the Central Deborah Mine and mining history.
· Work collaboratively with team members and contribute to training and mentoring of new guides.
· Other duties within training and competencies as required.
Our ideal candidate will have:
1. Minimum of 2 years tour guide experience and advanced expertise in local history and customised tour delivery
2. Exceptional customer service skills including the ability to empathise with visitors, understand and anticipate their needs and a willingness to help all visitors.
3. Barista skills highly regarded.
4. Good basic computer skills – MS Word and Excel, SharePoint, email, and internet.
5. Knowledge of Bendigo and other local tourist attractions.
6. Experience in hospitality and customer service.
7. Ability to be rostered on weekends, school holidays and public holidays is essential.
8. Effectively organise and manage groups of all ages and backgrounds.
9. Sound time management ability including being able to modify tasks to overcome unexpected delays.
10. Ability to follow procedures accurately, effectively, and efficiently.
11. Ability to keep calm and work under pressure in varying conditions.
12. Ability to manage emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
13. Good level of fitness and stamina.
14. A genuine interest in mining in Bendigo and local history
15. Good knowledge of Bendigo, its history, attractions, and heritage assets.
Special requirements:
All Bendigo Heritage employees and volunteers are required to have a valid Working with Children Check.
All Tour Guides must be willing to obtain appropriate certificate to provide first aid (training provided)
For this role you must be over 18 years of age to obtain your High Risk Personnel Hoist ticket (training provided)
