What you’ll be doing          

As an Anaesthetic Nurse at Mater Private Hospital Springfield, you will be at the forefront of providing essential support to our patients and the clinical team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the management of anaesthesia care, including preoperative assessment and intraoperative monitoring.
  • Ensuring patient safety during anaesthesia, managing potential complications, and maintaining a high level of clinical expertise.
  • Providing effective post-anaesthesia care and managing postoperative recovery.
  • Working collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, and the wider nursing team to deliver high-quality care.
  • Acting as a patient advocate and ensuring optimal outcomes throughout the perioperative journey.
  • Contributing to the ongoing improvement and sustainability of our department.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse (no restrictions).
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working as an Anaesthetic Nurse in a hospital setting.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and clinical judgment.
  • ALS certification (desirable).
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and decision-making abilities.
  • A passion for delivering patient-centred care and continuous professional development.

Our Strategic Finance team is currently seeking to appoint a Strategic Finance Officer to provide critical advice and services to facilitate robust financial management and support the achievement of corporate strategy and key objectives. This includes budgeting, forecasting, reporting and research to deliver key outcomes.

The role also provides high level accounting support services including the review of all general ledger accounts, to ensure consistent reconciliation with management reports and annual financial statements.

 

About You

To be successful in the role, you will have knowledge of the application of the Government Sector Finance Act 2018, Treasurer’s Directions and Australian Accounting Standards, with a broad understanding of relevant Government policies.

Your key experience is in management reporting, budgeting, and statutory financial accounting, coupled with knowledge and experience in financial management and accounting principles and practices.

With good time management and communication skills, you have the demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing deadlines and diverse stakeholder needs in a fast paced and time critical environment.

About the Role

Council is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced individual for the appointment of the Independent Member to the Audit, Risk, and Improvement Committee (ARIC) for a term of up to four (4) years.

The appointment of the Independent Member to the ARIC will be undertaken in accordance with the Office of Local Government’s Risk Management and Internal Audit for Local Government in NSW Guidelines (Guidelines).

Under the Guidelines, the ARIC continually reviews and provides independent advice to the General Manager and Council on how it is functioning and managing risk.

Essential

The successful candidates must possess the skills, knowledge and experience outlined in the Guidelines, in particular:

  • Independence Criteria for Committee Chairs and Independent Members (page 20)
  • Eligibility Criteria for Committee Chairs (page 21)

Conditions

  • Member fee = $600 per meeting (excluding GST) per meeting
  • Attend at least 4 quarterly meetings over the financial year
  • Council’s ARIC meetings are held in a hybrid environment which includes in person meetings held at 65 Homebush Road, Strathfield and online via MS Teams
  • Effective from 1 July 2025 up to 30 June 2029
  • You must participate in pre-engagement screening which may include but not limited to National Criminal Background, financial status, and reference checking.

The ARIC committee looks after the following:

  • Risk management
  • Control Framework
  • External Accountability
  • Legislative Compliance
  • Internal and External Audit.

Remuneration

The Independent Member of the ARIC will be paid a fee of $600 (excluding GST) per meeting for preparing for and attending meetings of the ARIC. The fee includes all other costs associated with attending the meetings such as travel, meeting preparation etc.

Selection Criteria

Audit, risk and improvement committee chairpersons must demonstrate the following:

  • Leadership qualities and the ability to promote effective working relationships in complex organisations
  • An ability to communicate complex and sensitive assessments in a tactful manner to the council’s internal audit coordinator, senior management and the mayor and councillors
  • A sound understanding of:
    • The principles of good organisational governance and capacity to understand local government accountability, including financial reporting
    • The business of the council or the environment in which it operates
    • Internal audit operations, including selection and review of the council’s internal audit coordinator, and
    • Risk management principles
  • Extensive senior level experience in governance and management of complex organisations, an ability to read and understand financial statements and a capacity to understand the ethical requirements of government (including potential conflicts of interest)
  • Functional knowledge in areas such as risk management, performance management, human resources management, internal Guidelines for Risk Management and Internal Audit for Local Government in NSW and external auditing, financial reporting, accounting, management control frameworks, internal financial controls, governance (including planning, reporting and oversight), or business operations
  • A capacity to form independent judgements and a willingness to constructively challenge/question management practices and information, and
  • A professional, ethical approach to the exercise of their duties and the capacity to devote the necessary time and effort to the responsibilities of the chairperson of an audit, risk and improvement committee.

Desirable Criteria

  • Possession of a relevant professional qualification or membership (e.g., Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), CPA Australia (CPA) and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA) is desirable

About us:

Capricornia Offender Health Service (COHS) is responsible for the delivery of health service to Prisoners in the Capricornia Correctional Centre (CCC) and Capricornia Correctional Farm (CCF) including workcamps.  COHS provides a health service to a fluctuating population of approximately 1300 male Prisoners within CCC and CCF.

The CCC receives and transitions Prisoners on release from and to geographical locations north to Mackay; south to Gladstone, east to Capricorn Coast; and west to Central Highlands. COHS provides clinical services within the correctional centre, which is unique to other clinical services, in that, COHS provides services within a structured day and security function of CCC.

About the role:

The purpose of this role is to provide advanced clinical leadership, management, and clinical expertise relevant to the care of male Prisoners at the Capricornia Correctional Centre and in the community setting for eligible Prisoners post release. The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) works in collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Consultants, Nurse Educator and other COHS Senior Leadership Members to support the clinical Prisoner health service in provision of safe quality healthcare through exemplary clinical nursing standards of practice in correctional nursing.

The NUM will work in partnership partner with Queensland Corrective Services and other external government and non-government community-based service providers/agencies to deliver an integrated correctional centre primary care service, health and wellbeing programs, and community-based transition care services. Furthermore, partner with CQHHS in-reach services such as Prison Mental Health; Oral Health services; Allied Health professionals; and the acute and emergency care service in providing care to Prisoners.

About you:

Current registration as a Registered Nurse through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

A relevant postgraduate diploma or master's degree or working towards this will be highly regarded. 

  • Experience in correctional nursing is desirable.

  • An hourly rate between $66.85 - $72.58 p.h.
