As a Principal Protection Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and advancing protection standards and implementations to meet regulatory and customer requirements, including embedded generation and storage. You will develop business cases for asset replacement projects and oversee maintenance strategies and defect management.   • Liaise with other departments regarding protection system design, quality, testing and related issues to ensure adherence to standards and that the users’ expectations and requirements are met.

What you’ll bring
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering; Chartered status (or equivalent) highly preferred.
- Years of mechanical engineering experience in the water/wastewater sector or closely related industrial settings.
- Strong background in mechanical design, performance modelling, pump/piping systems, rotating equipment, valves, treated water/ wastewater processes, and associated instrumentation and controls.
- Knowledge of relevant standards and codes for water and wastewater, risk management, and asset lifecycle practices.
- Proficiency with design and engineering tools (e.g., AutoCAD/3D CAD, BIM where applicable) and hydraulic modelling software; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
