The Position

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for planning, designing, and delivering construction and maintenance programs for Council. You’ll lead a small, dedicated team, and manage end-to-end project delivery including project scoping, planning and development, procurement and contract management, construction delivery, risk management, stakeholder communication, project tracking and reporting.

About You

Position overview

The Maintenance Support Officer position ensures that the Bureau of Meteorology owned observing equipment is maintained, remains operational, and in correct working order. This is achieved through electrical and mechanical repair and overhaul on a broad range of equipment and technologies. The following sensors/networks are included:

The Maintenance Support Officer position operates as part of the Operational Technology and Engineering (OTE) section. The OTE section is made up of a diverse team of specialists and engineers who are responsible for the design, development and sustainment of the Bureau of Meteorology owned observing equipment. This position focuses on the activities to support the Bureau's current and future Observations Network equipment.

The technologies and disciplines covered include:

To succeed in this role, you will have:

This NSW Government agency is responsible for delivering critical road and transport infrastructure that connects communities across the state. The Riverina West Works Centre plays a key role in maintaining regional assets and ensuring the safe, efficient delivery of essential infrastructure throughout western NSW.

About your new role!
As a Project Engineer based in Hay, you’ll take ownership of delivering maintenance and minor works projects across the Riverina West region.
This is a hands-on, site-based role — managing works programs, coordinating crews, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time and to Transport for NSW standards.

There are two roles available — a short-term (5 weeks) and a longer-term contract (until January 2026), both critical to maintaining network reliability and supporting ongoing infrastructure works.

Key tasks for this role include:
  • Managing delivery of maintenance and rehabilitation projects across the Riverina West region
  • Coordinating six maintenance crews, with two direct Work Supervisors (approx. 30+ indirect staff)
  • Programming and overseeing works such as heavy patching, shoulder grading and roadside vegetation control
  • Managing budgets (projects valued between $5–10M) and ensuring compliance with WHS and quality standards
  • Liaising with contractors, internal stakeholders, and delivery teams to resolve issues and maintain workflow
  • Contributing to the delivery of RMAP (Regional Maintenance and Asset Program) outcomes

About You!
We’re looking for experienced civil engineers who thrive in regional environments and enjoy managing teams and technical outcomes directly on site.
You’ll bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering civil or infrastructure projects (short-term role)
  • 8–10 years’ experience for the long-term contract
  • Proven background in maintenance or road infrastructure delivery
  • Experience within state or local government (highly regarded)

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Washington Accord-recognised).

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of Tactical Data Links and Defence acquisition processes (desirable).

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.

Our client is looking for an experienced mechanical HVAC BIM coordinator to take the lead on some of their larger projects.

Day to day, there will be some modelling involved so skills in Revit MEP is a must, however, day to day you will spend your time collaborating the project teams, identifying, coordinating and resolving clashes within the model and chairing coordination meetings. You will be responsible for driving standards on the project and providing QA on the model.

Our client is the leading bespoke electrical and mechanical contractor in NSW. They are family-owned and put their people first. Safety in every project is paramount. As is technical innovation and doing the right thing. It's these values and principles that have kept clients coming back to them for over 15 years.

They specialise in mechanical and electrical design and construction contractors but are supported by a specialist 24/7 maintenance arm. They are also branching into design consulting. They are always looking for opportunities to offer more.

Project-wise, they focus on projects in the $ 10-50 million range (sometimes higher) and can offer you exposure to projects that include hospitals, automated warehouses + distribution centres, commercial buildings, specialist laboratories and data centres/mission-critical facilities.

Whilst they don't offer much work from home due to the nature of the work, they are grown-ups. If you need to be flexible with your start or finish times or have things crop up and need to balance/work life a bit more, you do you if the projects are kept on track. Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future.

Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.

We currently have an opportunity for an experience Project Principal Engineer to lead and coordinate critical engineering activities for a Navy project within MIWS in Canberra.

What You'll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:

  • Lead and deliver high-level project briefings to senior Defence stakeholders.

  • Coordinate engineering, cyber, and safety working groups and major systems reviews.

  • Oversee design certification, engineering governance, and risk management.

  • Drive stakeholder engagement to progress tasks and maintain strong relationships.

  • Review and improve engineering contract deliverables and project artefacts.

What You'll Bring

  • Strong background in Systems, Electrical, Communications, or Underwater Sensors Engineering.

  • Proven ability to identify and mitigate technical risks.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to influence and manage teams.

  • Experience in CASG/NSSG projects and the Defence Capability Lifecycle.

  • Experience working in the maritime domain or Navy projects

  • Experience completing Detailed Design Review or other Major Systems Reviews

  • Coupled with an Engineering qualification that satisfies the requirements of the Washington Accord for recognition as a Professional Engineer.
