About the Role
Join TAFE Gippsland’s passionate Animal Sciences team and inspire the next generation of animal care professionals. Based at our Sale campus, you’ll deliver engaging, hands-on training across Certificates II and III in Animal Care and Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Drawing on your real world expertise, you’ll help shape course content, mentor students, and create practical learning experiences that prepare them for meaningful careers in animal sciences.
About You
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching across a range of subjects in Animal Sciences, as well as engaging in research and supporting students in practical, hands-on learning. We are particularly interested in candidates who can bring experience across a variety of animals, including wildlife, exotic species, large animals, and reptiles.
Foster a stimulating learning environment, sharing knowledge and expertise in the handling, husbandry and behavioural management of various animal species. The successful candidate will have evidence of a diverse range of animal handling and care expertise and previous experience delivering practical training in animal and livestock industry.
You will possess strong ICT skills, a solid understanding of training packages, and a keen awareness of compliance and quality standards. A collaborative and proactive team player, you’ll thrive in a dynamic, supportive environment, and have a track record of training, mentoring, and guiding trainees in the workplace.
Your passion for animal sciences and commitment to nurturing the next generation of industry professionals will drive your success in this role, as you help students grow their skills and knowledge to shape the future of the animal sciences sector.
Qualifications and experience
Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent) or willingness to complete with support and mentoring
Minimum Certificate III in Animal Studies or Companion Animal Services or equivalent in animal husbandry related studies or any relevant animal care qualification
Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the animal sciences industry in either wildlife or animal shelter experience preferred

About the position...
Based at our BUSY School NEW Townsville Campus, you will be re-engaging students and teaching within the areas of Year 11 or 12. This is a job split between teaching and being our campus curriculum coordinator. It also involves working closely with teacher aides and utilising their abilities in the classroom to help the students. We aim to achieve academic success while preparing our students for their future, with a heavy emphasis on vocational pathways as a roadmap to achievement. This role would be perfect for someone who has experience working in Senior Schooling alongside the QCAA.
This role is permanent full-time role with a 50% teaching load until campus reaches full capacity, the remaining time to be used leading the teaching team to re-engage students back into senior schooling
