Reporting to the General Manager/Director of Clinical Services you will be responsible for, day-to-day operations of the department, provide leadership that facilitates exceptional patient care, and promotes advancement of clinical practice.

As a Senior Support Worker (THASP), you will provide assessment, case management, and support to residents of Cyrenian House’s Therapeutic Communities who are engaged in, or preparing to engage in, the Transitional Housing and Support Program (THASP). This role combines client support, relapse prevention, and life skills development with property and tenancy oversight, helping residents transition into independent living. About the Role
The Tasmanian Community Paediatric Service (TCPS) Speech Pathologist delivers specialist care to children and adolescents with complex developmental, behavioural, and psychosocial needs, grounded in trauma-informed, relational, and community-embedded practice.

Working within the TCPS Multidisciplinary Team, this role involves contributing to comprehensive assessment, management, and advocacy for children, including those impacted by social disadvantage, disability, and trauma.

Responsibilities include contributing to neurodevelopmental assessments, managing common developmental and behavioural presentations, and promoting child wellbeing through public health advocacy, education, and systems-level engagement. The role may also involve supervision of Speech Pathology staff and students, and participation in service development to advance TCPS as a centre of excellence in community paediatrics.

About the role

Permanent full time opportunity to be exposed to a broad scope of responsibilities across clinical coding, activity-based funding, health informatics in a digital facility, and staff management.  The successful incumbent/s will be active contributors in a team environment, show initiative and self-motivation, lead quality improvement activities and generally develop health information management skill and expertise in a supportive environment.  

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Participate in the Coder-Clinician Liaison (CCL) program to clarify retrospective documentation and missed SNAP opportunities. Implement targeted prospective documentation improvement strategies that improve economies of scale.
  • Participate in targeted Diagnostic Related Group (DRG) reviews and other coding audits for data quality improvement purposes.
  • Design and amend AS2828 compliant clinical forms using skills in form design combined with the use of graphical design software including Adobe® InDesign®, Adobe® LiveCycle Designer®, Adobe® Acrobat® and Microsoft Word.
  • Participate in Metro North forms committee to drive clinical form consistency and standardisation.

About the role

An exciting opportunity currently exists within the Mackay Region. We are seeking a full-time counsellor who will provide counselling services to students at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Mackay (0.6 FTE) and St Anne's Catholic Primary School, Sarina (0.4 FTE).This is a full-time continuing position, commencing January 2026, or for two part time roles as negotiated with the successful applicant/s.

In this role you will be supported by a network of counsellors in the Mackay Region and the Counselling Services Coordinator.

Typical duties

  • Prepare for individual counselling sessions via assessment, case formulation and intervention planning.
  • Plan, prepare and provide small group interventions for students relevant to need.
  • Assist parents with appropriate referrals for their child where ongoing counselling or other forms of support are needed.
  • Provide counselling support and follow up response to student protection risk management issues.
  • In collaboration with other staff, provide direct input and support to the implementation of individual intervention plans (e.g., NCCD).
  • Assist in providing information for staff to present sessions and/or programs to students.
  • Assess immediate level of risk of students in crisis and provide appropriate crisis interventions, including referral to acute services where required.
  • Liaise and work collaboratively with relevant external agencies to ensure appropriate support for students and their families.
  • Provide professional support and advice to staff, parents, and students in relation to counselling, mental health, and wellbeing.
  • Provide immediate support for staff in crisis and assist them to access the Employee Assistance Program (Working Well) or other appropriate referrals.
  • In times of critical incidents, provide counselling services as required.

About You

The successful applicant will have relevant experience, qualifications, and an understanding of, and a commitment to, the ethos of Catholic Education. In addition, you will have excellent time management skills, and well developed interpersonal skills.

Mandatory Criteria

  • Minimum required qualifications are a relevant 4-year undergraduate degree from the disciplines of Social Work, Psychology or B Education + Masters Guidance & Counselling.
