About the role

Mater Mothers’ Hospital’s Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU) is seeking a Neonatal Fellow/ Senior Registrar with neonatal experience to join the team on a maximum-term, full-time basis.

Mater Mothers’ Hospital (MMH), South Brisbane, is Australia’s largest maternity hospital, caring for over 10,000 births each year. The Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU) is one of the largest and most advanced neonatal units in the country — a combined tertiary perinatal NICU that also delivers complex surgical and subspecialty neonatal care often provided in children’s hospitals. Each year, nearly 2,000 babies from across Queensland and Northern New South Wales receive care in the NCCU, which comprises 42 intensive care cots and 34 special care cots.

Salary range: Commensurate with experience per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

Depending on neonatal experience, you will be working in the Neonatal Fellow / Neonatal Registrar roster, with the opportunity to step up in as skills and experience are acquired.

  • Utilise and ensure compliance with contemporary human resource management practice and principles including workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination requirements

About you

You’re a dedicated and capable medical practitioner with a strong commitment to delivering evidence-based, family-centred neonatal care. You bring clinical expertise, sound judgement, and a collaborative approach to supporting newborns and their families within a multidisciplinary environment.

You will bring:

  • Registration as a medical practitioner without conditions, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Undertaking or completed fellowship training in neonatal perinatal medicine or general paediatrics with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent

  • Ability to work harmoniously within a team and communicate effectively at all levels
  • Ability to evaluate situations and make objective judgements and decisions
