About the role
John West Logistics' is seeking experienced HC & HR Crane Truck Drivers for contract roles based in Erskine Park, NSW. As a Crane Truck Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of crane trucks to meet the transportation and delivery needs of our clients.
What you'll be doing
Operate crane trucks to facilitate deliveries througout Sydney
Perform pre-start checks
Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to ensure the safety of yourself, your load and other road users
Maintain accurate delivery and work logs
Collaborate with the logistics team to ensure on-time and efficient deliveries
What we're looking for
Current HC or HR driver's licence with demonstrated experience operating crane trucks
Strong understanding of crane truck operation, load handling and transportation regulations
Excellent driving skills and a proven record of safe driving
Ability to perform pre-start checks
Strong communication and customer service skills
Willingness to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

What We’re Looking For:
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 / TAE40122) or currently working towards it
Proven ability to mentor new drivers and provide top-tier training
Minimum HC licence (training and assessment provided for MC licence upgrade)
Skilled in both automatic and non-synchromesh gearboxes
High-Risk Work (HRW) licence
Experience with general and temperature-controlled freight (highly desirable)
Strong understanding of mass management, fatigue management, load restraint, and Chain of Responsibility (CoR)

We are looking for a reliable and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our dynamic and inclusive team, specialising in the handling and transportation of scrap metal materials. This role is vital to our operations and supports our ongoing commitment to sustainability and recycling.
As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate movement of scrap metal throughout our facility. You'll play a key role in maintaining a well-organised yard, ensuring that materials are properly sorted, stored, and transported according to company standards. You will work closely with other team members to support daily operational goals and uphold a workplace culture rooted in safety, respect, and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to load, unload, transport, and organise scrap metal materials.
Perform daily equipment checks and basic maintenance to ensure forklifts are in safe working condition.
Maintain accurate records of materials moved, including weight, type, and location, and report any discrepancies to supervisors.
Assist with managing scrap metal inventory to ensure optimal organisation and efficient workflow.
Follow all company safety procedures, wear required PPE, and actively participate in creating a safe work environment.
Collaborate with team members to complete tasks on time and contribute to a positive team culture.
Participate in regular safety meetings, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
Valid forklift certification required.
Previous experience as a forklift operator, preferably in a scrap metal, recycling, or industrial setting.
Strong understanding of workplace safety practices and forklift operating procedures.
Ability to lift up to 20kg and perform tasks in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

ABOUT THIS ROLE
As a JJ’s HR Truck Driver, you will operate a waste collection vehicle, in the Bendigo region.
You will be working with a safe, modern and reliable fleet, serviced and maintained in our on-site workshops. We are an essential services industry, offering stability to employees and reliability to our customers.
You will enjoy early starts (5am-6am) – as well as great pay rates, overtime and BONUS
If you’ve got your HR licence, we can teach you the rest!
ABOUT YOU
Current HR license
Experience with Rear Lift, Crane, Hook Lift, Side Lift or Front Lift trucks is preferred, but if not, full training will be provided
Turn up on time and can be relied on to get the job done
You can follow a driver run sheet, but you’re also able to think on your feet and work out the best way to complete your run
Be the face of JJ’s for our customers; so being approachable and professional comes naturally to you
Safety matters to you - you follow the rules
You’re happy to complete a pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol test
Provide a 5-year traffic history at the interview
