About the role

Liontown Resources is seeking an experienced and driven Underground Mine Operations Superintendent to join our team at the Kathleen Valley Lithium Operation. The position is offered on an 8:6 FIFO roster from Perth.

This is a key leadership role within our Underground Mining team, and we're looking for someone capable of stepping up as the delegate for the Underground Manager and Alternate Underground Manager when required.

With our plant now fully commissioned, Kathleen Valley has successfully transitioned into production. Our open pit operation continues through 2025, with current plans forecasting completion in early 2026. Underground operations are progressing with both decline and level development well on track, and we are targeting first stoping in early Q4 FY2025.

Reporting to the Underground Manager/Alternate Underground Manager, this role will see you work closely with our underground mining contractor to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of our mining schedule.

Responsibilities Include;

  • Lead the safe and efficient execution of underground mining activities, ensuring alignment with production targets and operational plans.
  • Supervise and support a team of mining, engineers, and contractors, fostering a high-performance and safety-first culture.
  • Oversee all aspects of development and production, including drill and blast, stope extraction, haulage, and pastefill operations.
  • Manage contractor performance and compliance, ensuring delivery against KPIs, contractual obligations, and site standards.
  • Collaborate with Technical Services and Geology teams to ensure accurate execution of mine plans and schedules.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, productivity, cost control, and operational excellence.

About you

  • A degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent operational experience in underground mining.
  • A current or near-completion WA First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency (highly regarded).
  • A minimum of 10 years of underground mining experience, with at least 3 years in a Superintendent or senior supervisory capacity.
  • Strong working knowledge of underground mining methods, including pastefill, development, and production drilling.
  • Contract mining oversight experience - particularly in managing performance, compliance, and relationships.
  • Demonstrated leadership in safety systems and incident management.
  • Proficiency in Deswik or similar mine planning and scheduling software.
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills - able to engage, influence, and drive team outcomes.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening, and obtain a National Police Clearance.

About the role:

At MRM, we’re looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Mine Technical Services team in a PERMANENT role to help develop and deliver accurate geotechnical plans and operational designs in accordance with the Ground Control Management Plan.

  • Contributing to & implementing standards & procedures in respect slope / ground monitoring / control and mine infrastructure;
  • Conducting geotechnical inspections of pits, dumps & stockpiles to ensure compliance to national legislation and meet the sites requirements.
  • Advise & assist stakeholders with recommendations on geotechnical issues regarding mine design/planning & operations as requested.

Successful Applicants Will Have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of large open pit mining operations that includes a minimum of two years’ experience working in a similar role. Understanding of anisotropic deposits is favourable.
  • Knowledge of industry standard modelling and mine design systems is required, in particular Vulcan and Rocscience suite;
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills;
  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering majoring in geotechnical engineering, or similar relevant tertiary qualification from a recognised tertiary institution.
