AHS Technician – Autonomous Mining Technologies

Job Summary:

As an AHS Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) components and supporting technologies. This includes sitewide communications infrastructure such as Wi-Fi and LTE networks, GNSS systems, remote-control interfaces (e.g., remote dozing), and integration with onboard vehicle technology.

Key Responsibilities:

Install and commission AHS components on haul trucks, dozers, and ancillary equipment

Maintain and optimize mine Wi-Fi and LTE network infrastructure to support autonomous operations

Work with OEM systems such as CAT Minestar, Komatsu AHS, and other fleet automation tools

Diagnose and resolve faults related to network drops, equipment sync, and latency issues

Interface with control room personnel, OEM reps, and site engineers to support autonomous workflows

Assist with the deployment of RTK base stations and GPS correction networks

Ensure site documentation, configs, and change control are current

Ideal Background:

Experience with AHS systems or remote operation platforms

IVMS & Vehicle Technology Installer (Fleet Telematics Technician)

Job Summary:

The IVMS (In-Vehicle Monitoring System) Installer is responsible for the field installation and servicing of vehicle telematics and safety systems across a fleet of light and heavy vehicles. You'll work on technology like GPS tracking, fatigue monitoring (e.g., Guardian by Seeing Machines), driver behavior analytics, and integrated camera systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Install IVMS hardware into vehicles (CAN integration, power, sensors)

Calibrate fatigue and distraction monitoring systems (Guardian, FleetLive, etc.)

Test system functionality and data transmission post-install

Provide user training to operators and supervisors

Maintain installation records and data integrity

Troubleshoot connectivity issues or unit faults on-site or remotely

Collaborate with telematics providers for firmware updates or system improvements

Ideal Background:

Auto electrical experience or trade qualification

Strong attention to detail with clean and compliant installations

Understanding of vehicle data protocols (CAN bus, OBD-II)

Ability to work independently across remote locations

General Mining Systems Technician

Job Summary:

The Mining Systems Technician provides support across a range of operational technology installations. You’ll work with various sensors, communications hardware, networks, and vehicle-mounted systems that support safety, productivity, and automation in both surface and underground mining environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Install and maintain fleet management systems (e.g., Front Runner, CAT Minestar, Wenco, Modular)

Setup comms infrastructure for mobile fleet—antennas, radios, cellular uplinks

Support telemetry systems for equipment condition monitoring

Assist engineers with data logging and diagnostics from sensors and PLCs

Work on integration of third-party systems—collision avoidance, tire pressure monitoring, fuel level sensors

Ensure documentation and system change logs are up to date

Role:

We have several opportunities for an experienced Heavy Vehicle (HV) Fitter to join the Mobile Plant team in Ballarat. This is the perfect opportunity to get into Mining Maintenance, ditch FIFO and live close to home!

The position reports to Mobile Plant Leading Hands. 

Roster:  7:7 rotating rosters, Wednesdays to Tuesdays 

Hours:   12-hour shifts

Days: 7am-7pm

Nights: 7pm-7am

The key responsibilities in this role will be the safe and productive execution of a variety of duties including:

• Undertaking scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance of the company's heavy vehicle fleet, including Sandvik, Cat, Normet, Volvo and Atlas vehicles and equipment.

• Responding to machinery breakdowns promptly and undertake quality repairs in a timely manner.

• Servicing and preventative maintenance on Jumbos, Loaders and Trucks.

• Diagnosis and troubleshooting of faults, and recommending servicing interventions that improve the operational efficiency of the company's heavy vehicle fleet

• Rectifying machinery breakdowns in an underground environment promptly and undertake quality repairs in a timely manner.

• Ensuring completion of all shift paperwork including service sheets, work orders and daily shift reports.

• Completing all JSA's, risk assessments and documentation to ensure all work is completed safely and as per schedule. 

To be successful in this role:

• Relevant mechanical Trade certificates.  

• Previous experience working with Mining or heavy earth moving machinery, Volvo & Detroit engines.

• Ability to commit to a continuous 7/7 rotating roster, day and night.

• Ability to work underground, on 12-hour shifts 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well under pressure and in a team environment. 

Preferred:

• Previous experience in Mining industry is highly desirable but not essential.

• Other relevant backgrounds could include heavy earth machinery and agriculture.

• Previous experience in parts ordering using an ERP system (such as Pronto) is also highly desirable.

HD Fitter & Serviceperson – Renewable Energy Infrastructure Project
Join the Team Powering a Large-Scale Wind Farm

Lucas TCS is currently seeking Expressions of Interest for a HD Fitter for our upcoming King Rocks Wind Farm.

An exciting upcoming project scheduled to commence in August 2025 with an anticipated project duration of approximately 12 months.

This project, located just outside Hyden (approximately 340 km east of Perth), will see Lucas TCS as the lead contractor for the Civil Balance of Plant work (CPoB) including design, construction, and commissioning of a large-scale solar and wind farm.

About the Role's

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused HD Fitter / Diesel Mechanic to support mobile plant operations during the construction and commissioning of a landmark renewable energy project.

This hands-on role is critical to maintaining fleet availability and supporting continuous progress on-site.

As part of the site-based operations team, you will be responsible for the maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of a wide range of heavy earthmoving equipment used across bulk and detailed earthworks.

We are also recruiting for a serviceperson to join our team at King Rocks Wind Farm. The role entails all servicing activities covering mobile plant & equipment. The successful candidates will also be required to work closely with the site’s maintenance personnel to ensure maximum plant availability to minimize downtime.

HD Fitter

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and breakdown repairs on mobile plant equipment.

• Perform component change-outs and ensure machinery is operating safely and efficiently.

• Conduct inspections and identify potential faults to prevent equipment downtime.

• Complete accurate maintenance reports and documentation in line with company procedures.

• Work collaboratively with the project operations and maintenance teams to support safe and timely project delivery.

What We’re Looking For:

• Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Duty Fitter.

• Recent mine site or civil construction experience in maintaining and repairing heavy mobile plant.

• Strong diagnostic skills and experience performing component change-outs and breakdown repairs.

• Experience working with a variety of OEM equipment, including Hitachi, CAT, Komatsu, and Atlas Copco.

• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening (DAS).

• Ability to provide a current National Police Clearance.

 Serviceperson

In this role, you will;

• Refueling a large range of civil plant

• Routine maintenance on earth moving machinery

• Equipment servicing including oil and filter changes

• Machine inspections, reporting on defects and checking all fluid levels

• Assisting fitters as required

• Setting and maintaining high housekeeping standards

• Carrying out pre-start checks

• Excellent rates, allowances and Super on all hours plus 5 week AL

• Access to novated lease after 6 months.
