This is a rare senior leadership opportunity within one of Australia’s leading materials handling and industrial manufacturing businesses. This role is the key role for their Victorian Operation which is responsible for the collection, processing, and trading across both domestic and international markets. The State Manager QLD will have full P&L accountability for the Queensland operations, including trading, supply chain and safe operations.
This role is focused on delivering profitable growth, operational excellence, and superior customer outcomes by leveraging people, process and operations management. You will lead the development and implementation of strategic business plans, drive operational performance, and ensure a safe, cost-effective, and high-performing operation. Additionally, you will contribute to the broader organisation across Australia to optimise performance and identify growth opportunities.
 
The Role

Reporting to the General Manager and sitting as part of the National Senior Leadership team your responsibilities will include:
  • Deliver the State’s business plan and strategic imperatives to achieve P&L targets.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, driving alignment to business goals and ensuring succession planning.
  • Oversee trading operations, establish volume and margin targets, and develop new supplier relationships.
  • Ensure safe operations through leadership, compliance with Codes of Practice, and active risk management.
  • Manage operations across 5 sites, optimising processing capability and reducing operational costs.
  • Monitor market trends to identify medium-term opportunities and threats, and collaborate on growth strategies.
  • Drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and cost efficiency.
  • Build enduring relationships with suppliers, industry bodies, regulators, and stakeholders.
  • Prepare performance reports, reviews, and capital expenditure plans for key business initiatives.
Your Background

In order to be successful in this role you will have the following skills & experience:
  • Degree in Business, Engineering, or Operations discipline preferred.
  • Proven senior leadership experience with P&L accountability in a complex operations environment. Those with experience managing mobile equipment and materials movements will be looked at favourable.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to analyse market trends, margins, and forecasts.
  • Demonstrated success in multi-site leadership and cross-functional team management.
  • Exceptional relationship management, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Experience in safety, compliance, and operational risk management.

 What you'll be doing:

 YARD

Organising and maintaining an efficient layout of the hire equipment and other materials to ensure a safe and tidy work environment.

  • Conducting Pre-Hire and Off-Hire Inspections when equipment goes out and is returned.

  • Assisting truck drivers with load/unload of deliveries

  • Assisting customers with equipment handovers and load/unload of pickups

  • Assisting wash bay with cleaning of returned machinery, when required.

  • Delivery and collection of equipment (if holding a HR license)

  • Fixing minor issues in workshop
