About the Role

  • Fabrication of structural steel and heavy-duty components
  • Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and general housekeeping

What You’ll Be Doing

Hours

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working as a CNC Operator on a locomotive wheelset overhaul line consisting of:
  • Wheel & Axle machining
  • Mechanical Fitting and Assembly
  • Bearing installation
  • Component measurement
  • To machine wheels and axles plus various mechanical fitting activities involved in wheelsets and locomotive components support housings.
  • Inspect and interpret drawings and specifications and determine method of manufacture and standards as required
  • A strong commitment to maintaining a safety environment


To be successful for this role you will require:

  • Experienced in CNC operating & programming
  • Set up and operate CNC lathe machines to produce precision components according to specifications
  • Kinwa CNC lathe experience preferred but not essential.
  • Capable of setting up and machining components
  • High attention to detail and a sound knowledge of measuring instruments
  • Relevant Trade Qualification
  • Strong communication skills. Both oral and written
