We’re looking for a proactive and organised Project Officer to support the delivery of major land development projects, including the Causeway Precinct and Kingston Arts Precinct. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working across systems and processes and thrives in a dynamic environment.

You’ll provide high-level administrative and project support, coordinate meetings and reporting, manage financial and contract processes, and contribute to the successful delivery of our critical urban renewal projects.

If you're methodical, self-motivated and passionate about making a difference in urban development, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply now to be part of a team that’s building great places for our community.

This process may also be used to fill similar temporary or permanent roles in the Place Delivery Group. If you’re found suitable, you’ll join a merit pool. This means we may contact you about other similar opportunities, and you can choose whether to accept—without having to apply again.

Reporting to the Senior Development Manager – Urban Development (North Canberra), the Project Officer will manage a range of responsibilities that contribute to the smooth operation and governance of complex projects.

This includes coordinating reporting requirements, maintaining project documentation and databases, and supporting financial and contract processes such as rebates, bonds, and invoice management.

You’ll assist in implementing project management practices, support procurement and consultant coordination, and help monitor budgets and approvals.

Strong stakeholder engagement is key, as you’ll liaise with internal and external partners to keep projects aligned with timelines and objectives.

You’ll also contribute to the preparation of project briefs, business plans, and board papers, and foster a collaborative and respectful working environment in line with ACTPS values.

This role is perfect for someone who’s organised, proactive, and keen to grow or build their career in Government and urban development. You’ll be part of a collaborative team with access to learning and development opportunities, mentoring, and exposure to strategic projects that shape Canberra’s future.

The role also provides secretariat support for internal meetings, ensures compliance with the Territory Records Act 2002, and works closely with the Business Operations team to improve administrative systems and workflows.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, veterans, younger and older workers, and people with diverse genders, sexes and sexualities to apply.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

Highly desirable:

  • Experience using the record management system (Objective/Acconex), P2P, MS Project and Microsoft software and design software.
  • Experience of the ACT Government procurement, planning, development, and construction processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in land or property development projects and the application of project management skills in this area.

Notes: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. This position will be located in a workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
