We’re seeking experienced Dump Truck Operators to join our Mine Production team at Sino Iron, Cape Preston.

This is a permanent FIFO position from Perth, working on a 2/1 roster (days and nights).

We’re looking for safety-focused operators with demonstrated surface mining experience, ideally in a high-production open-pit environment.

You’ll be working across a large fleet of mining equipment including:

  • Terex MT 6300AC Electric Drive Haul Trucks
  • Unit Rig MT 4400 Haul Trucks
  • Watercarts (as required)

To be successful, you’ll bring:

  • 2+ years’ experience operating large electric-drive dump trucks (240t+)
  • Current manual driver’s licence (essential)
  • Understanding of surface mining principles
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team
  • A proactive attitude and commitment to safety

About the role

Reporting to the Supervisor - Operations, you will be responsible for the safe operation of an Underground Shotcreter machine to install fibrecrete as per the ground support standards. Key Responsibilities and benefits of the role include:

  • Operating an Underground Spraymec safely and efficiently
  • Ensuring quality and assurance of loads and performing required testing
  • Installing and repairing services and ventilation in development and production headings
  • Operating Agi equipment as required
  • Plating and tensioning installed cables
  • Assisting with production drill hole site setup

About you

We are looking for people who have the following attributes, skills and experience:

  • Underground Agitator and Spraymec operations experience

What we'll need from you: 

  • Current Australian Drivers Licence 
  • Minimum Cert IV in Work Health and Safety 
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116)
  • ICAM Lead Investigator experience 
  • Certification in Workplace Auditing (desirable) 
  • High level knowledge and experience in Health, Safety, Environment and Training
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of current legislative requirements and the ability to effectively apply these in the workplace.
  • Previous experience in a similar role working in the mining / resource industry
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage deadlines
  • Adaptable to change
  • Previous experience in heavy mobile equipment operations (desirable)

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring works are completed safely, in line with WHS legislation
  • Ensuring machines are maintained to company standards as per OEM specifications
  • Ensure maintenance compliance with all planned and unplanned events
  • Breakdowns, labour requirements, work order control and cost management.
  • Delivery of daily scheduling of planned and unplanned work to meet the weekly mine plan
  • Focus on continuous improvement and lead teams to develop and implement solutions.
  • Promote and maintain a positive and collaborative team culture

  • Established supervisory experience within an open pit operation

  • S26 Supervisor competency

  • Manage the delivery and performance of Mobile Plant Machinery
  • National accredited HD Mechanic / Heavy Plant trade (Certificate 3)
  • Current Drivers Licence (Manual)
