About the role

This is a 9-month fixed term opportunity located at Tarong Power Stations.

We are looking for a Project Manager to be responsible for the provision of project management services.  This responsibility includes the development and implementation of the various project phases of specific projects within operational assets and infrastructure, and interfaces with various groups to successfully deliver the designated projects.

The role will be responsible for the overall management and successful execution of designated projects, which includes all contractual, technical negotiations and technical outcomes through the provision of professional project management services.

Key activities include:

  • Ensure that all assigned projects and activities are carried out in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and permits, and company frameworks, policies and procedures.
  • Be accountable for the project meetings, liaising with key stakeholders; managing risk; managing change issues with affected groups and ensuring regular project communications.
  • Liaise with internal and external engineers/technical specialists and service departments of Stanwell Corporation, as appropriate, to obtain assistance in the attainment of engineering services, budgeted objectives or longer-term plans for the organisation.
  • Demonstrate effectiveness in the successful control and delivery of multiple, concurrent and competing projects/tasks/activities with positive cost, schedule, safety, environmental, quality and industrial relations outcomes.
  • Provide solid understanding of project management processes, drivers, objectives and a strong ability for problem solving.

About you

  • Strong technical experience and knowledge in power plant (or similar heavy industry) operation and processes.
  • Effective project path management and program deviation control, through identifying and managing program float, tracking issues and escalating contingencies.
  • A Diploma of Project Management (desirable)
  • Hold a Certified Practicing Project Manager (CPPM) Qualification (desirable).

  • Monitor the identification of ASR's with Supervising Hangar Engineers.
  • Other duties as may be directed to ensure operational and customer success.

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Mechanical)
  • Able to perform various types of aircraft maintenance.
  • Experience working in an aircraft maintenance facility.
  • Ability to work in a changing environments.

  • Computer literate in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and Office Suite.

About the role

We are currently seeking a motivated Senior Electrical Engineer to join our friendly and supportive Melbourne Buildings Team on a full-time basis.  You will be a part of our multi-disciplinary team working across various building projects.

The successful candidate will be able to apply their technical skills and demonstrate commitment in a way which ensures projects are thoroughly designed, personally reviewed and delivered on time. You will be expected to service projects including those of relatively large size, of high complexity and with multiple clients.

Stantec are involved in a vast variety of project types including data centres, health, defence, high-rise, industrial, education etc. The successful candidate will be working in a strong team environment and will need to manage several projects at any one time. You will be self-motivated, resourceful and a great communicator.

 The role will enable the successful candidate to develop in a professional and personal sense and to forge a challenging and rewarding career path in a global successful consultancy.

 

Day to day tasks would involve:

  • Responsible for planning and managing projects from initial master planning, concept and brief, through to installation and commissioning.

  • Provide Electrical designs for a range of building projects, including reports, studies, design calculations, mark-up’s, drawings and specifications

  • Represent Stantec externally to Clients, playing a senior and active role in managing these relationships.

  • Prepare presentations and present to external clients

  • Liaise with authorities and contractors


To be successful for this role you'll need:

  • Hold a bachelor degree of Electrical Engineering 

  • Ideally have around 5-8 years experience working in a Consulting environment within the Building services industry in Victoria

  • Willingness to establish and maintain strong client relationships to formulate repeat opportunities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Positive, can-do attitude, team player and strong work ethic

The Opportunity:
As a Project Engineer (2–6 years’ experience), you’ll play a key role in the delivery of projects valued between $2M–$20M.
You’ll work alongside experienced Project Managers to manage both the technical and commercial delivery of civil, structural, and excavation works.

Key Tasks Include:
  • Programming & Planning – Develop and update construction programs to meet milestones.
  • Contracts & Procurement – Manage subcontractor packages and negotiate pricing.
  • Cost Control & Forecasting – Track budgets and provide accurate financial reporting.
  • Progress Claims & Variations – Prepare claims and assist with pricing and approvals.
  • Resource Coordination – Organise labour, plant, and materials for efficient delivery.
  • Quality & Site Management – Oversee daily operations and maintain high standards.
  • HSEQ Compliance – Drive strong safety and quality performance across all works.
  • Client Relationships – Communicate effectively and build lasting client trust.
What You Need to Succeed:
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • 2–6 years’ local contractor experience in civil or structural projects (ideally $2–10M projects)
  • Strong understanding of cost tracking, procurement, and progress claims
  • Excellent communication and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
  • Only candidates who are Australian Citizens, Permanent Residents or hold full-working rights will be considered
