Get to know the Role: 

Border Express currently has multiple opportunities available at both our Tullamarine and Cranbourne depots for experienced and motivated Casual Parcel Sorters to join the team on both our AM & PM shifts

Theses positions are responsible for the loading, unloading and sorting of parcels into different areas for delivery by our parcel driving team.

Success in this position will be measured by sortation accuracy resulting in zero parcels misdirected, deadlines for linehaul loading are met 100% of the time, NIL Damages to customers’ freight and freight is stacked packed and wrapped efficiently to facilitate linehaul loading. 

Duties:

  • Examine each parcel and allocate it into an appropriate area for delivery; Via Postcode, Destination, and Branch;

  • Ensure the manually load / unload of parcels from pallets is done safely following correct manual handling processes;

  • Complete and maintain parcel processing records and all documentation associated as required;

  • Communicate amongst your team and supervisors to meet agreed schedules, and escalate any issues in relation to processes, safety and operations. 

  • Loading/unloading freight onto a conveyor belt  

  • Stacking/wrapping pallets  

  • Manual handling

  • Sorting freight 

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in the transport industry;  

  • Ability to adhere to WHS and Safety Regulations;

  • Excellent attitude, a good work ethic and reliability;

  • A high level of physical fitness and the ability to perform repetitive lifting;

  • Great local knowledge of Melbourne and surrounding areas;

  • Ability to work unsupervised.
