About you:

• Trade: Cert III in Mobile Plant Technology (or equivalent qualification)

• Highly Regarded: Dual trade, air-con ticket, and tyre handling experience

• Experience: Proven background working on major OEM heavy earthmoving equipment and ancillary gear within an open-cut mining environment

• Minimum Experience: 2-3 years of experience with OEM heavy mining equipment including CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi, Volvo, and Liebherr is required

Reporting to the Coordinator: Electrical, ensuring the reliability and performance of our processing facilities. Your focus will be on preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs across electrical and instrumentation systems.

Located at St Ives Gold Mine, Western Australia, this position operates on 8 days on, 6 days off roster FIFO from Perth, or residential DIDO from Kalgoorlie or Kambalda. Daily bus transport is provided for residential employees.

As a Mechanic with the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) you will maintain and operate a range of mechanical plant and equipment. You will also maintain and operate the station power generation facilities (mechanical side). You will support station and field operations as required.

Mechanics work in either summer or winter jobs. Shorter winter opportunities may also arise. Mechanics are only employed at Casey, Davis and Mawson stations. If staying on station as part of the wintering crew you are required to participate in an on-call roster, to respond to out of hours issues – mainly related to the station powerhouse.

A Senior Mechanic (Macquarie Island) and a Wilkins Aerodrome Diesel Mechanic will be selected from suitable Mechanic and/or Station Mechanical Supervisor applicants. Overland Traverse Mechanics will be selected from suitable Mechanic applicants.

As a member of the GEMCO Ancillary Team, you will be operating Excavators and  Moxy Trucks in a mining environment. You will work 12.25hr shifts on a 7/7 roster (7 on, 7 off) and work both Day and Night shifts

What you will need

• Minimum 12 months production mining experience operating 30T Moxy Trucks (or higher) and 30T Excavators (or higher)

• Experience in Poly Welding, Bob Cat Operation, Dewatering and Blast crew would beneficial

• A current Heavy Rigid Licence (Manual)

• The ability to undertake a Pre-Employment Medical including Drug and Alcohol screening
