Position overview
The Bureau has an extensive property portfolio located throughout the Australian mainland and adjacent islands comprising 34 staffed offices, 62 weather surveillance radar sites and approximately 700 automatic weather station sites. The Property Services function is responsible for the delivery of facilities management and leasing services, together with the provision of strategic property advice ensuring that our facilities support the Bureau's activities and outcomes.
The Leasing Specialist reports directly to the Leasing Manager and is tasked with the negotiation and implementation of leases and licenses across the Bureau's national property portfolio. This role is critical in ensuring that the Bureau secures favourable lease terms that align with long-term strategic objectives. Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders, including legal, finance, and Observing Systems Operations team, the Leasing Specialist is responsible for managing the end-to-end leasing process, from initial negotiations through to the execution and implementation of agreements, ensuring that all critical dates are met and that the Bureau's interests are protected at every stage.

What You’ll Be Doing:
In this dynamic role, you'll be responsible for a wide range of property management tasks, including:
Managing a portfolio of residential rental properties
Conducting routine, entry, and exit inspections (with Assistant PM support)
Coordinating repairs, maintenance, and liaising with trades and service providers
Handling tenant enquiries and resolving issues promptly
Advertising vacancies and managing the tenant selection process
Preparing tenancy agreements, lodging bonds, and handling legal documentation
Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and industry regulations
Maintaining detailed property records and providing regular updates to landlords
Building and nurturing strong relationships with both tenants and landlords
Using property management software and tools to streamline operations
What We’re Looking For:
We’re after someone who is not only capable but passionate about property management, and brings a positive, team-focused attitude.
Minimum 1 year of experience in residential property management
Solid understanding of the Residential Tenancies Act and related legislation
Strong communication skills - both written and verbal - and confidence liaising via phone and email
