Position overview

The opportunity

You hold a degree in engineering or computer science and have a strong background in data historians, particularly the AVEVA PI System. In this role, you’ll support clients by implementing and optimising historian systems, integrating process control technologies, and delivering technical solutions that improve operational performance and decision-making. You’ll also lead and deliver integration projects that enhance data visibility and operational outcomes for clients across global sites.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting clients with their ongoing operations by maintaining and optimising their data historians
  • Assisting clients with the set up of new historian systems which includes design procurement, installation, configuration, testing, tuning, training and support
  • Reviewing and auditing data historian deployments
  • Providing sound engineering and analysis techniques to understand client needs and utilising relevant tools/methodologies to identify solutions
  • Undertaking and coordinating integration projects in Australia and overseas that enhance clients' useful performance data availability and decision-making capability
  • Conducting engineering investigations, designing and calculating, preparing engineering documentation, and applying sound engineering practices to achieve objectives of quality, schedule, and budgeted hours
  • Providing technical advice and assistance to other team members
  • Evaluating new technologies and methods for future applications
  • Developing and maintaining a full working knowledge of Mipac and partner software used in delivering Digital Solutions Implementation integrations

 About you; ideally, you will have:

  • A degree in Engineering (metallurgy, process, chemical, mechatronic, electrical), Computer Science, or another relevant tertiary qualification
  • Extensive industry experience with historians, specializing in the AVEVA/OSIsoft PI System and PI Asset Framework development
  • Proficiency in integrating data from process control systems and other data sources, as well as managing installation, configuration, validation, tuning, historians and downtime systems
  • Skills in SQL queries, scripting, and process analysis for report creation using historian data
  • A strong understanding of Windows OS, networking, and system security
  • Experience in the energy and resources sector is an advantage
  • Willingness to travel to sites (domestically and internationally) occasionally as required
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders
  • Proven capability in writing technical documentation and scopes of work.

Required skills

The Role
In the role of Engineer (Civil) with supervision and guidance from senior engineering staff, you will be responsible for the delivery of transport infrastructure planning projects in accordance with TMR's OnQ Project Management Framework either directly or through the administration of contracts and management of consultants.

You will provide support and advice through the project lifecycle of design, construction, and maintenance activities. You will also provide support and advice to the Corridor Management team on infrastructure planning matters.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Produce Project Planning deliverables such as Road Link Plans, Options Analyses, Business Cases and other planning studies following standard department templates and in accordance with TMR's OnQ Project Management Framework.
• Administer engineering consultant contracts under the Infrastructure Building and Construction Panel (IBCP) and Consultants for Engineering Projects (CFEP) schemes for the delivery of planning projects in accordance with TMR's standards, policies, and guidelines.

About you You are a proactive engineer with a strong background in civil infrastructure delivery and the ability to manage competing priorities across remote sites.
Essential requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience (delivering infrastructure works; 8–10 years preferred for long-term roles)
  • White Card (mandatory)
  • WOF and Traffic Control tickets (or willingness to obtain at own cost)
  • Full driver’s licence and ability to travel across regional sites
  • Prior Local or State Government experience highly regarded

About the Opportunity
We are seeking two experienced Senior Mechanical Engineers to join a our highly sought client. These roles offer the chance to contribute to the design, development, and technical assurance of key water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the state. Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide expert engineering advice, design input, and project support for studies and infrastructure initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-level technical investigation, design, review, and advisory services for mechanical systems.
  • Provide mechanical engineering support across major projects, including pipelines, pump stations, and water treatment plants.
  • Contribute to the development and review of technical standards and design documentation.
  • Support the implementation of Safety in Design (SiD) principles across all project phases.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, consultants, and contractors to ensure fit-for-purpose, cost-effective outcomes.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) accreditationessential.
  • Demonstrated mechanical engineering experience in the water industry, ideally across pipelines, pump stations, and treatment facilities (wastewater experience highly regarded).
  • Proven ability in the design and specification of mechanical components such as pumps, valves, and filtration systems.
  • Strong hydraulic knowledge, including:
    • Pump selection and system design
    • Surge modelling and mitigation
    • Sizing of surge vessels, PSVs, and PRV
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
