Position

The Commissioning Manager (High Voltage) will lead the High Voltage Commissioning Teams and collaborate closely with the integration and completions teams to manage the different commissioning phases of the Transmission line and Substations Projects.

Reporting to the National Operations Manager as the Commissioning Manager (High Voltage) you will drive the delivery and implementation of commissioning activities from the tender phase through award and into the design, construction, commissioning and operational readiness stages of the projects in accordance with the Project Test and Commissioning Plan and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to meet the stakeholders' technical requirements as defined by the contract documents, and in accordance with project budget and program requirements
  • Obtain relevant design parameter information from the detailed designs and construction specifications, including monitoring quality and quantities of incoming equipment and material
  • Check work drawings, construction and specifications against site plans and conditions; and arrange corrections or modifications where necessary
  • Comprehensive planning, implementation and management of all testing and commissioning activities and operator training to achieve handover of operational high voltage assets and the associated secondary and control systems to clients/end users
  • Forecasting costs and revenue and taking corrective actions to maximise profit
  • Identify risks to testing and commissioning task and if required implementing control measures or mitigation plans
  • Review testing and commissioning plans, commissioning test procedures, integrated test plans from subcontractors and /or suppliers
  • Plan, coordinate and verify post-occupation/preservation activities in accordance with the project/contract requirements
  • Quality and quantities of incoming equipment and materials, other inputs, and relevant design and specification documentation monitored against site plans and conditions, ensuring testing and commissioning proceeds to plan
  • Complete all required task to ensure successful commissioning of the high voltage assets including handover to the operations and maintenance teams

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent
  • 15 years' experience in commissioning or construction completion
  • Demonstrated experience in the approach and process of commissioning, from project award through to completions through the preparation and execution of test and commissioning plans
  • Previous high voltage construction project experience (ideally at Transmission Voltages)
  • Previous experience in the commissioning of Renewable Generation Projects, including hold point testing (R2)

About The Role

Working within our Critical Infrastructure division, the successful applicants will assist in the development of electrical detailed designs, produce cost estimates of materials and labour, assist construction team during the construction of the projects and update data base and as built drawings.

About You

Preferable experience and knowledge of but not limited to:

Position

The Design Manager is a project leadership role focused on high voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) infrastructure projects. These span transmission lines, substations, and power systems across the utility, industrial, and renewable sectors. This role blends technical excellence with team leadership, delivering constructible, cost effective, and sustainable designs that meet project scope, budget, and schedule. The Design Manager leads inclusive, multidisciplinary teams, supports career growth, fosters innovation, and drives continual improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and is responsible for leading and managing the design inputs, outputs, and overall process on selected projects from pursuit to delivery, in order to maximize successful project outcomes
  • Develop designs or solutions to engineering problems that balance the impact of present engineering activities with the economic, social and environmental prospects of future generations
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of Australian engineering standards and practices
  • Evaluate ongoing projects, products and processes to identify and diagnose performance deficiencies, impending or actual failures, and proposes remedies and solutions

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 10+ years leading engineering teams in HV/MV systems and infrastructure (132kV
  • and above)
  • Ideally a 5 years of fieldwork, supporting hands-on engineering and site collaboration.
  • Exposure to Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor and/or TNSP experience is highly regarded
  • Proven leadership experience in nurturing internal teams and cross-functional communication.
  • Knowledge of constructability, systems integration, and technical governance.
  • Experience with standards like IEC, IEEE, AS/NZS and a strong safety-first mindset.

  • Support tradespeople with the installation and assembly of lift and elevator systems.

  • Carry out measurements, alignments, adjustments, and inspections of mechanical components.
  • Accurately document work activities, materials used, and report progress to supervisors.
