About the role
This is an excellent opportunity to join Prothom' as an Estimator. In this full-time role based in Moonee Ponds, VIC, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the success of our maintenance works by providing accurate and detailed cost estimates. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for quantifying and costing construction materials, labour, and other project expenses, allowing Prothom' to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.
What you'll be doing
Preparing detailed cost estimates for maintenance jobs, including materials, labour, and equipment requirements
Researching and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotes to secure the best value for the company
Collaborating with project managers, site supervisors, and other stakeholders to ensure estimates align with project requirements
Keeping up-to-date with industry trends, pricing changes, and new construction methods to optimise cost efficiencies
Providing support and guidance to junior estimators to help develop their skills
What we're looking for
Minimum 3 years' experience as an Estimator in the construction industry

The role offered is to join our field survey team as a valued team member. To empower the company with field-based surveying capabilities for design, construction and engineering-based survey projects. As a Survey Field Technician for Sonto, you will be required to carry out field surveys, meticulously, to the standards established by the company and adhere to the company quality assurance systems. You'll be required to travel to a variety of job sites, carry out best practice field survey processes and calculate survey data onsite to ensure the project is delivered without error and within expected project deadlines.
Some of your duties will Include:
Calculating & adapting field files for the survey.
Uploading and downloading project files and data.
Carrying out best practice resections, backsights and traversing.
Setting out points, offsets, lines, marks, profiles, pins, pegs including any repair work as required.
Picking up property data for contour and detail & ascon projects.
Collection and management of field data.
Maintaining best practice survey data storage and file saving.
Reducing and processing survey data.
Company QA processes and industry guidelines adhered to.
Identify & escalate any non-conformance or processes that require corrective action.
Good communication with client (where required).
Good communication with Sonto team members.
Your workload will consist of field-based surveys for building setouts (both residential and commercial), contour and detail surveys, civil surveys, design and engineering surveys. This role will require you to work largely autonomously, but at times you will need to work collaboratively with the other field crews, draftspersons as well as senior licenced surveyors. You will be required to practice diligent quality assurance processes to ensure field surveys are error-free and carried out to the standard of quality set by the company.
This role is best suited to a candidate with previous experience in surveying in the residential and commercial construction industry. You will bring your experience and attention to detail to this role. The successful candidate will have career progression opportunities and will be adamantly supported by the whole Sonto Team. The successful candidate will be provided with training and support to complete the requirements of this role & to further develop their skills to become an exceptional surveyor.
