You will initially link up for 3 months but it is expected that the role will continue onwards from there. In this role, you will be responsible for providing independent assurance on the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes across the organization. This role combines traditional audit responsibilities with strong project management capabilities to ensure timely delivery of audit engagements, especially those related to strategic initiatives and infrastructure projects.

Your duties will keep you firmly on your toes and make your days streak by. These will include:
  • Planning, executing, and reporting on internal audit engagements with a focus on project governance and delivery.

About the role
In this role, you will contribute to the efficient and effective operation of Council’s processes and responsibilities for fire hazard identification and compliance with Council’s Local Law, Country Fire Authority (CFA) Act 1958 and Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) Act 1958.

Work type: Fixed Term (3 months) – Full Time

Key responsibilities include:

  • Community Engagement & Compliance: Liaise with the public regarding fire prevention, respond to complaints and enquiries, and promote compliance with relevant legislation, local laws, and council policies.
  • Fire Hazard Inspections & Enforcement: Conduct annual fire hazard inspections, oversee seasonal staff, issue notices, and prepare documentation for legal proceedings if necessary.
  • Planning & Reporting: Support the planning and review of the Municipal Fire Management Plan and Victorian Fire Risk Register and contribute to seasonal planning and end-of-season evaluations.
  • Training & Support: Assist with the induction and mentoring of seasonal employees and help develop efficient record-keeping systems using council software.
  • Administrative & Legal Duties: Write reports, maintain accurate records, represent the City in court when required, and make decisions on fire prevention notices and compliance actions.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with members of the community in relation to problem solving and negotiation. You must be able to work within a small but highly motivated team and enjoy putting ideas and suggestions across in line with our Better Ways of Working.

Essential Experience:

  • Completion of the Municipal Fire Prevention Officer Course an advantage but not essential.

About the Role

As the Manager, Traffic and Transport you will:

What You’ll Bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Traffic or Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, Civil Works, Urban Planning or equivalent discipline.

  • Extensive expertise in traffic and transport planning, with hands-on experience managing parking systems, regulatory enforcement, and urban mobility strategies.

  • Proven leadership in multidisciplinary environments, coordinating engineering, policy, and operational teams to deliver integrated transport outcomes.

  • Strong understanding of NSW and Australian transport legislation, technical standards (Austroads, TfNSW), and compliance frameworks.

  • Experience managing complex transport challenges in high-growth areas, including CBD renewal, multi-stage developments, and transit-oriented projects.

  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to navigate politically sensitive issues and build trust across community and government.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Postgraduate qualifications or professional development in transport planning, traffic engineering, or public safety.

  • Eligibility for professional membership, such as Engineers Australia, Planning Institute of Australia, or relevant transport bodies.

What you'll be doing

  • Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, provide safe, compassionate, person centred care in collaboration with individual/s and the multidisciplinary health care team to achieve quality care outcomes for patients and clients.
  • Assist in the evaluation of nursing care through provision of information, documentation and reporting changes in patient's conditions and participation in Unit meetings and discussions.
  • Acts as a preceptor to other enrolled nurses, undergraduates, Assistants in Nursing and work experience students as appropriate.
  • Work within own scope of practice and seek support, learning and education where required.
  • Where the occupant of the position is medication endorsed, administer medications in accordance with NSW Health and Far West LHD policies and procedures.
