About the role

As the Head Technician, you will install and service cleaning machines—both truck-mounts and portable units—fitted into vans and trucks. The role also involves interacting with customers, preparing quotes, managing invoices, and coordinating day-to-day workshop operations. 
  
Duties 
  • Work includes engine repairs (23hp engines), electrical troubleshooting, and machine installations (timber floor and carpet fit-outs).  
  • Install, repair and maintain truck-mount cleaners and portable units – often large batches from customers (e.g. 40 units dropped off at once).  
  • Tasks can range from circuit board repairs, broken wires, sensors, to full installations and diagnostics.  
  • Must be comfortable with troubleshooting non-routine issues – every machine that comes in is different 
  • Work includes basic testing, replacing motors and control panels, and appliance-style repairs. 
  • Doesn’t require a full electrical license, but restricted license or HVAC/AC background desirable 
  • Liaise with customers face to face, over the phone, and via email.  
  • Manage quotes, invoicing, and job entries in the computer system.  
  • Overseeing workflow and job tracking.   
Skills and experience 
  • Someone with foreman, controller, or manager experience who can manage workload and workflow.  
  • Could suit someone from a hire industry, HVAC, dealership, or tool/equipment background. 
  • Must be mechanically minded, hands-on, and technical – the kind of person who enjoys taking things apart and figuring them out.  
  • No strict KPIs or qualifications required – experience and problem-solving ability matter most.
