Job description:

The Senior Forest and Fire Procurement Officer supports the successful delivery of a broad range of regional programs, including roading works, visitor assets, fuel management and Strategic Fuel Breaks, in line with organisational priorities.

This role promotes best practice procurement processes and systems across district and regional procurement activities, providing expert advice and quality assurance to ensure compliance with procurement controls. It is a key position that enables the effective delivery of projects across the region.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in public sector procurement and contract management is desirable.

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within the Hume region with hybrid work arrangements available.

What you’ll be doing

As the Education Coordinator – Perioperative Services, you’ll lead the design and delivery of innovative, evidence-based education and professional development programs that support our people and ensure excellence in perioperative care. You will work closely with Nurse Unit Managers, Clinical Facilitators, and educators across the organisation to ensure high-quality, consistent learning experiences that reflect contemporary perioperative practice.

  • Deliver high-quality perioperative education aligned with national standards and Mater’s strategic goals
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of interprofessional learning opportunities
  • Design individualised learning plans for perioperative staff and support their development journey

About you

What you’ll need:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife (or relevant professional registration)
  • Postgraduate qualifications in perioperative nursing (essential)
  • Postgraduate qualification in teaching or education equivalent, highly desirable (highly desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, delivering and evaluating clinical education programs
  • High-level communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
  • Ability to initiate, coordinate, and evaluate quality improvement initiatives in education and clinical environments

The Team:

In the role of Senior Physiotherapist (Trauma and Acute Surgery) you will provide optimal evidence-based physiotherapy to trauma and acute surgery patients in in the Trauma and Acute Surgery Unit at the Royal Hobart Hospital. In this role you will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary environment including the trauma and surgical wards to deliver evidence driven patient centred care and as a consultive resource across the acute care service.

As a member of the physiotherapy team, you will contribute to a culture of learning and foster leadership and innovation.

The Role:

The Trauma and Acute Surgery Senior Physiotherapist will perform duties including:

  • Provide evidence driven patient centred physiotherapy care to Trauma and surgical patients, facilitating patient flow, discharge planning and preventing hospital re-admission.
  • Promote a learning culture supporting leadership and clinical supervision to physiotherapists, allied health assistants and undergraduate students
  • Provide clinical expertise and professional education to Physiotherapy, Allied Health, Medical and Nursing Teams, and external agencies, particularly in relation to the trauma patient cohort.
  • Foster innovation and support Quality Improvement and Service Delivery projects

You will need:

  • Significant general and specific physiotherapist experience relevant to the identified clinical area/unit in conjunction with sound knowledge of relevant contemporary physiotherapy practice including assessment, intervention techniques, literature, resources and equipment.
  • Proven commitment to ongoing professional development and ability to supervise and educate other health professionals, undergraduate students and support workers and a continuing contribution to knowledge in the identified clinical area/unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of the Council's WHS management system and safety initiatives.

  • Ensure corrective and preventative actions are identified and adopted to reduce WHS risk through incident, near miss and hazard identification or reporting.

  • Coordinate workplace or site safety inspections of Council facilities to assist in the identification and management of WHS risks across the organisation and to ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures

  • Prepare reports on findings because of inspections or incident investigations for management or leadership.

  • Attend toolbox meetings, promoting safety culture and supporting field staff regarding their responsibilities in managing risks, and ensure they are aware of their obligations.

  • Assist with, participate in, and follow up on field staff and contractor induction programs.

  • Assist in training for staff regarding Council's safe work practices, including review, development, induction and monitoring of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) statements.

  • Support and assist managers, team leaders and field staff with the investigation of incidents, near- misses and hazard management.

  • Support, coach and mentor field staff in the implementation of remedial action arising from investigations.


What You Will Bring:

  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or similar, or ability to acquire certification or equivalent

  • experience in a comparable role combined with ongoing professional development.

  • Entry-level or graduate-level experience in WHS is suitable for this role.

  • Experience in applying WHS regulations to practical workplace situations.

  • Experience or ability to acquire knowledge and skills of wellbeing in the workplace

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy whilst working to deadlines.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.

  • Demonstrated ability to undertake duties in a manner consistent with a culture of customer service excellence and Council's values – Leadership, Excellence, Accountability and Delivery.

  • Working with Children and National Police Check or willingness to obtain both.

  • A current C class (car) driver's licence is required.

About the role
Reporting to the Director, Commercial Roads the Senior Commercial Manager has the accountability for managing nominated Road Public Private Partnerships (PPP) using a comprehensive range of specialist commercial skills, drawing on technical and legal input as required. This includes, but not limited to, providing principal and authoritative advice relating to financial and commercial matters, and being the key point of contact for PPP partners on all aspects of the contracts including Quarterly Service Payments (QSP's), variations to contracts, disputes and financial models. The role may also work on other projects and initiatives in Commercial Advisory, and with stakeholders across DTP and the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF).

Key Selection Criteria
The role requires a senior professional with strong contract management capabilities, including leading stakeholder engagement, influencing and persuading across complex political and organisational contexts with robust governance and risk management. The successful candidate will demonstrate advanced critical thinking, flexibility, and collaboration to develop sustainable solutions on behalf of the State.. Technical expertise in contract management, including supplier relationship management, risk mitigation, and performance optimisation, is essential to maximise value to the State and ensure the required service delivery.

Position accountabilities
The Department of Transport and Planning is seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to lead and manage key Road Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), ensuring risks to the State are effectively mitigated through legal, technical, and financial oversight. In this role, you will be responsible for the calculation and payment of Quarterly Service Payments for availability-based PPPs and hold ownership of the associated financial models. You will work closely with the Director, Commercial Roads, and teams across Commercial Advisory to develop innovative solutions to complex commercial issues arising from the PPPs and coordinate ongoing matters, including contractual amendments and approvals.


You will lead and develop a high-performing team, ensuring all commercial matters and risks are identified, assessed, and managed to a high standard. Using strong negotiation and influencing skills, you will collaborate with colleagues and other business areas across the Department to provide effective and consistent contract management. The role may also involve contributing to broader commercial initiatives across Commercial Advisory, applying your expertise to enhance value and outcomes for the Department.


The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in managing complex commercial arrangements, with a strong focus on risk management, stakeholder engagement, and financial oversight. You will demonstrate the ability to lead teams, deliver innovative solutions, and work effectively across a diverse range of stakeholders to achieve strategic outcomes.

Qualifications and experience
Mandatory
- Relevant tertiary qualification in commerce, finance, accounting or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience managing commercial contracts preferably in Transport or Infrastructure.
- Strong collaborative, interpersonal and consultation skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across the organisation and with external stakeholders.
- Strong experience in providing high level advice to executives and senior management.

Desirable
- Understanding of budgeting and basic accounting concepts.
- Experience with Victorian State Government systems and processes.
