Duties and Responsibilities

Working autonomously and within a tight-knit team the Mechanical Technician/Sprinkler Fitter is supported by administrative and trades persons to work within the Service team providing I&T and D&C duties for one our key remote clients on an 8/6 (8 days on, 6 days off) (12-hour days) maintaining Fire Pumps, Sprinkler/Deluge/Special Hazards systems, Hydrants, Hose reels and Portables across their facilities.

Salary: $160,000 p/annum plus super

Roster: 8/6 (8 days on, 6 days off) (12-hour days)

Sites: Fortescue


Duties include:

  • I&T routine compliance testing to AS1851

  • D&C / breakdown works,

  • Close liaison with our client on site personal,

  • Managing your own daily schedule,

  • Scoping of materials for D&C and Breakdown tasks,

  • Completing all on-site paperwork to access locations and perform tasks,

  • Reporting directly to our Perth based Account Manager,

  • Work with ARA Fire Alarm Technician to assist, preform 2 man testing etc.

  • Completion of task within our Service Maintenance software CLARAFY.

Requirements:

  • Sprinkler fitters’ trade certificate

  • Current drivers licence inclusive of 4WD certification

  • Completion of medial inclusive of drug & alcohol test

  • Current Senior 1st aid course (preferable)

  • Preference to those that have worked on mine sites previously

  • Extinguishing Agent Handling Licence (EAHL)

  • The successful applicant requires a high degree of organisational skills, prioritisation of tasks, customer focus, calm, focused, self-motivated, interaction with clients’ daily and owns a task through to its completion. 

This role will suit someone who:

  • Is well organised, work with ambiguity and changes to daily activities.

  • Has a strong work ethic and works well multiple units within the mine site operations.

  • Is cooperative and carry through to the completion of task.

  • Copes with being busy at times and enjoys pressure.

  • Can be relied upon to work efficiently when unsupervised.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in trade

About the role

Join Evoenergy as an Electrical Works Practices Officer- Overhead and play a key role in shaping the safety and quality of Evoenergy’s electricity (distribution and transmission) network.

In this role, you will lead the development of safe, compliant, and effective operational frameworks for our overhead electricity network. You’ll apply your technical expertise and industry best practices to create and maintain work practice instructions and assurance processes that support our WHSEQ policy, Electricity Network Safety Management System, and Asset Management System.

Working collaboratively across Evoenergy, you’ll play a vital role in promoting safety, quality, and compliance in our overhead distribution and transmission activities. This position is ideal for a safety-conscious professional committed to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

A day in the life

  • Work effectively with key stakeholders to design, write, consult and communicate on works practices procedures for overhead network-based activities.
  • Develop Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), and train the workforce to implement ITPs, according to standards, instructions and other business objectives as relevant to all stages of design, asset installation, replacement, maintenance and disposal.
  • Effectively lead and participate in investigations of incidents and engage with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor trends and changes impacting the utility industry, particularly in the areas of electrical work practices and identify opportunities for application within the business.
  • Champion and role model Evoenergy’s culture principles and behaviours acting as a coach and mentor to actively support your team in demonstrating the culture principles and behaviours.

Our ideal candidate

  • Certificate III in ESI - Distribution Overhead or equivalent
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Extensive experience in the development and implementation of work practice improvements such as instructions, training and documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of assurance programs related to the electricity industry such as project audits, incident investigations and/or verification of competency frameworks.
  • Highly developed communications skills with an ability to take technical information and convert it into clear and succinct plain English requirements.

  • Focused on safety, able to identify risks and take action to reduce hazards.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and mechanical skills.

  • Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
