We’re currently seeking an experienced Fixed Plant Mechanical Fitter to join our team for the month of January, with the potential for further work for the right candidate.
This role operates on an 8/6 and 7/7 roster and offers an excellent opportunity to work with a supportive team in a dynamic site environment.
Contract Dates:
Start: January 2 2025
End: January 30 2025
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct preventative and general maintenance (PMs) on fixed plant equipment
Perform breakdown repairs and troubleshooting in collaboration with other trades
Maintain and service Warman and Sulzer pumps
Support the maintenance and operation of Jord filter belts
Ensure safety and operational standards are consistently met
Required Skills & Experience:
Perth based
Experience with Warman and Sulzer pumps
Previous exposure to Jord filter belts
Strong background in preventative maintenance
Experience responding to breakdowns in a fixed plant environment
Current WA driver’s licence

Successful candidates will also be required to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol test paid for by Taurus.

As a senior member of our mining operations reporting directly to the Production Superintendent, you will play a pivotal role in leading and developing our teams within a challenging mining environment.
You will inspire your colleagues, influence stakeholders, challenge conventional practices, and drive meaningful change. Your leadership will foster a culture of collaboration, enjoyment, effective communication, and continuous improvement.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations, overseeing daily operations, and managing site inspections to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Conduct statutory inspections and ensure compliance with the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999 and Regulations.
Supervise drilling, blasting, and production activities to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Identify and manage hazards, implementing risk controls as required.
Provide leadership and guidance to crews, ensuring best practices in safety and operational performance.
Report incidents, hazards, and compliance issues promptly.
Work closely with engineers, shotfirers, and site management to optimise mining processes.
ABOUT YOU:
Highly experienced Mining Supervisor with a passion for driving performance through effective leadership
Queensland Open Cut Examiner (OCE) Certificate and current practicing certificate.
Extensive production experience in coal mining operations.
Experience in a complex mining situation such as steep dipping seems and underground workings.
Strong understanding of mining safety regulations and best practices.
Leadership and problem solving skills with the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to build and foster strong working relationships with your team and across all departments.
Current Standard 11 and Coal Board Medical (or ability to obtain).
