We are seeking a motivated Financial Accountant to join Miwatj Health on a 12 months fixed term contract and play a key role in supporting the delivery of Indigenous primary health care across East Arnhem. In this dynamic role, you’ll mentor and develop Finance Officers, resolve complex issues across transactions, and take ownership of month-end and year-end processes, reconciliations, and audits. You’ll also lead compliance and continuous improvement of financial systems, contribute to strategy as part of the Finance Leadership Team, and support organisational growth through strong financial management. Miwatj Health is an independent Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Service. Established in 1992, we’re committed to providing quality services across East Arnhem Land and enabling YolÅ‹u powered community health and wellbeing. Miwatj provides culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary and public health for over 6,000 residents of this remote landscape. With a Head Office in Nhulunbuy, and a Corporate Office in Darwin, our delivery is focused on 7 health centres across East Arnhem Land and dedicated outreach teams who travel to additional locations.

What we’re looking for in you!

We’re looking for a qualified and experienced finance professional who is committed to Aboriginal Community Control and understands the challenges faced by YolÅ‹u communities in remote settings. You’ll bring at least three years’ experience in accounts payable/receivable and team leadership, with solid knowledge of accounting practices, financial systems, and digital applications. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines are essential, as are well-developed communication and problem-solving skills in cross-cultural environments. A current NT Ochre Card, Covid-19 vaccination, and relevant post-secondary qualifications are required.
