General Hand – Works Crew
Are you an experienced operator with a passion for community service and safety? The Shire of Collie is seeking two motivated & enthusiastic skilled General Hands to join our Works Crew.
Key responsibilities of the position will include:
Safely operate and maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment used in construction and maintenance.
Perform general maintenance and construction of Council infrastructure.
Set up and dismantle traffic management systems, when required.
Conduct pre-start inspections and ensure equipment is in safe working condition.
Respond to after-hours callouts when required.
Comply with Occupational Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Undertake training to enhance skills and knowledge.
To succeed in this role, you should ideally be proficient in operating and maintaining machinery such as loaders, graders, excavators, and street sweepers. Demonstrate a strong understanding of safety protocols and quality control techniques. Possess good communication skills along with sound literacy and numeracy. Be physically fit and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Hold a current valid C Class driver’s licence (HR/HC licence preferred), as well as a valid Safety Awareness Card.
An attractive remuneration package up to $72, 000 will be offered based on skills and experience, with a base cash salary of $63, 488 plus allowances. Residing within the Shire of Collie will be highly regarded but is not essential, and a housing allowance will be offered for such.
