About the role

Council is seeking an experienced Head of Project Delivery to lead, innovate, and deliver major engineering, building, and landscape projects that make a real difference to our community.

In this role you will provide strategic direction, leadership and direction in the planning and delivery of all projects, and ensure successful outcomes for both the community and the organisation.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for Council-wide project delivery
  • Provide progam management to ensure the planning, coordination, and delivery of complex engineering, building, and landscape projects are successful.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and frameworks for effective project management
  • Manage project budgets, procurement, tenders, and contracts for consultants and contractors
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, standards, and Council policies.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including community consultation and executive-level reporting
  • Build, lead, and mentor diverse project teams, fostering a culture of high performance and accountability
  • Oversee risk management, quality control, and health and safety throughout the project lifecycle
  • Provide expert advice to Council and the Executive Team on strategic project initiatives
  • Monitor progress for the program, resolve issues, and ensure deliverables and targets are being facilitated and met.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Construction, Project Management, or related discipline
  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence
  • WorkCover WH&S General Induction (White Card)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering complex engineering, building, or landscape projects
  • Proven experience in project delivery using recognised frameworks (e.g., PMBoK)
  • High proficiency in construction, contract management, and procurement (including tenders).
  • Experience managing project budgets and multiple concurrent projects
  • Demonstrated leadership in developing and managing large, diverse teams.
  • Experience providing strategic direction and executive-level advice
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and regulations
  • Ability to interpret complex design plans and specifications
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication abilities
  • Proficient in MS Office programs
