About the Role:
Clarity Partners is partnering with a reputable organisation embarking on a large-scale payroll compliance initiative. We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Payroll Compliance Specialist to support this 12-month project, with the possibility of extending, ensuring payroll operations align with Australian legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements.
In this role, you’ll work closely with HR, Finance, and external auditors to maintain accurate and compliant payroll practices while driving continuous improvement across systems and processes. Success in this position requires a strong understanding of the Fair Work Act, NES, and relevant state-based payroll regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Audit & Analysis
- Audit payroll processes, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with tax laws, employment legislation, superannuation, and award agreements.
- Verify payroll calculations, tax withholdings, superannuation contributions, and employee entitlements such as leave balances, overtime, and terminations.
- Analyse payroll data to identify discrepancies, inaccuracies, and compliance risks.
- Identify and resolve compliance risks while providing expert advice on Fair Work, taxation, and superannuation obligations.
System & Process Evaluation
- Assess payroll system accuracy, configuration, and integration with HRIS and accounting platforms.
- Evaluate compliance with enterprise agreements, modern awards, and employment contracts.
- Review onboarding, termination, and leave management processes for alignment with compliance standards.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare comprehensive audit reports highlighting findings, risks, and non-compliance areas.
- Develop and document recommendations for process improvement and policy updates.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and Payroll teams to create and execute corrective action plans.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with internal teams to address audit findings and drive compliance solutions.
- Provide expert guidance on payroll legislation and compliance best practices.
About You
- Proven experience in payroll auditing, compliance, or project-based payroll roles.
- Strong understanding of Australian employment law, Fair Work legislation, and superannuation requirements.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Experience with HRIS and payroll software (e.g., SAP, Chris21, Pronto, or similar).
