Backbone Steel is our steel framing business, providing high-quality steel framing solutions to the Summit Homes Group and external clients. With a busy production and assembly line, our factory in Myaree is a high-volume steel framing producer.
We are currently looking for a Production Engineer Supervisor to oversee production operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement.
About the opportunity:
Responsibilities include:
Plan, coordinate, and monitor production activities to ensure timely output meeting quality and safety requirements
Supervise preventative maintenance schedules and oversee machine repairs
Implement Lean manufacturing initiatives and process improvements
Lead, train, and motivate production teams to build a collaborative, high-performing workplace culture
Analyse production data, review workflows, and recommend improvements to through put and resource utilisation
Manage operational budgets, monitor costs, and control scrap rates
Ensure compliance with workplace health, safety, and environmental standards
Liaise with engineering, maintenance, and quality teams to resolve technical issues and improve production performance
Assist with workforce planning, rostering, and performance reviews
Contribute to strategic planning by identifying opportunities for process optimisation, technology upgrades, and capacity growth
About you:
Proven supervisory or leadership experience in a production or engineering environment
Strong knowledge of manufacturing systems, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement practices
Practical understanding of Lean methodologies and process optimisation
Ability to interpret technical documents, production schedules, and operational data
Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of workplace safety regulations and compliance requirements
Qualifications:
Degree or diploma in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
Additional training in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies is highly regarded
