Due to accelerated growth, Hydrotrac are on the lookout for a LEADING HAND BOILERMAKER WELDER!

Wangara Workshop based metro role.

Hydrotrac Engineering offer specialist support services to the Mining & Civil Industry with complete maintenance solutions in Perth, and isolated mine site support services. We are seeking an experienced Leading Hand Boilermaker Welder to join our team based out of our new workshop, located in Wangara.

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced, safety-focused Leading Hand to join our workshop team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll lead by example — working on the tools while supporting and guiding your team. You’ll assist the Supervisor with the day-to-day operations of the workshop and ensure all work meets our high-quality standards.

Basic Requirements

  • Australian recognized trade certificate – Certificate III in Engineering Fabrication.

  • Minimum 5 years post-trade experience.

  • Able to pass FCAW 4G weld test

  • Experience with ISO compliance and a keen eye for quality and QA/QC

  • High Risk Work License, Elevated Work Platform (EWP)  Current Working at Heights, Confined Spaces & Gas Testing- (will provide training and cert for the right candidate)

  • Experience with Bucket/Tray work & crack repairs (highly desirable)

  • Experience with HME products from CAT, Liebherr, Komatsu & Hitachi

  • Provide regular updates to the Workshop Supervisor to ensure timelines are met and communication is maintained

  • Experience with ISO compliance and a keen eye for quality and QA/QC.

  • When required conduct pre-start meetings to cover all daily issues including; safety, job requirements, communication etc. 

  • Ability to jump in and assist team members on the job front.

  • Ability to read and understand detailed shop drawings and to provide recommendations/solutions to improve the final product.

  • To ensure that jobs and safety instructions issued by the Workshop Supervisor are carried out as required. 


In addition, you will:

  • Ability to mentor team members

  • Be experienced in Flux Core, MIG, stick & Arc Air Gouging 

  • Be highly motivated, with the ability to work alone and within a team.

  • Be confident to build, repair & fabricate components for all plant & equipment

  • Strong work ethic 

  • Positive attitude

  • Strong commitment to safe work practices and workplace health & safety standards

  • Must be able to obtain a National Police Clearance 

  • Must be able to complete a full pre-employment medical, and drug & alcohol test

  • Must have full Australian working rights and be located in WA
