The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of civil construction projects. This role is critical to the business, as it directly contributes to securing new projects and driving company growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyse project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare estimates
Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor services
Attend pre-tender meetings and site inspections
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to develop estimates
Prepare tender submissions and proposals for both government and private clients
Manage relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, sourcing competitive quotes
Perform risk analysis and identify potential cost-saving opportunities
Monitor project costs and variations throughout the life of the project
Key Requirements:
Relevant qualifications in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field
Proven experience in estimating for civil construction projects, including roads, drainage, earthworks, and utilities
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Benchmark, Expert Estimation, or similar)
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Knowledge of local government tender processes and industry regulations
