Hands-On Mechanical Trade Assistant Wanted - Join Our Fleet & Maintenance Team in Pinkenba

Join a skilled team supporting the maintenance of Downer's diverse fleet and equipment. We're looking for a proactive and hands-on Mechanical Trade Assistant to help keep our operations running smoothly in our Pinkenba workshop. If you enjoy variety, working with machinery, and being part of a tight-knit team, this is the role for you.
In this role, you'll support our mechanics and fabricators with day-to-day maintenance tasks, ensuring our fleet and equipment remain safe, reliable, and ready for work. No two days are the same in this fast-paced workshop environment.
You will:
- Assist qualified tradespeople with mechanical and fabrication tasks.
- Carry out basic servicing, maintenance and small engine repairs.
- Support stores operations including ordering, receiving, and picking parts.
- Operate a range of vehicles and machinery (manual and automatic).
- Contribute to workshop organisation, housekeeping, and safety compliance.
Mandatory:
- A valid driver's licence - manual and automatic experience is essential.
- Experience in automotive mechanical, fabrication, or a similar hands-on trade environment.
Highly Desirable:
- MR driver's licence (or willingness to obtain).
- Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience working in stores/parts environments.
- Small engine repair and maintenance skills.
